Troops -- I bought a 2009 Carrera S with PDK in May 2013.  Prior owner had it 41/2 years; it now has 61/4 years and 41,000 miles.  Prior owner sold it with a 3 year transferable Fidelity Platinum after-market warrranty, so I've got 1+ years remaining.  Always dearler serviced, no mechanical problems -- like the used car ad says, "Runs great!"    Mostly city driving, never tracked, BUT each week when I drive to the go-kart track to practice or race, the speedo seems to read 110 -- 120 on a short link of freeway (for the CHP, I am sure this is in kph....).  Did I say I really like Froggy this car?  Bottom line: I've about decided to keep Froggy (yeah, it's dark green) for the "long term" (since I had my first 356B while in Germany with the Army in the mid 60's, long term is relative).  Being a bit obsessive (hey, I'm a Porsche owner), I've read through the Renntech and 6speed forums for hours looking for significant reliability issues.  Yes, my PDK can sometimes be a bit ackward at low speeds.  Yes, I know a small number of early PDK's had some computer wiring problems that led to a major mechanical failure of the transmission.  Yes, I know some folks are concerned about possible valve deposits due to direct injection.  And yes, I know there have been hot topics like the glove compartment light!  But I honestly cannot find anything that causes me the least concern with either the Gen II engine or the PDK.  Added to this is the JD Powers 2012 three year report on the reliability of 2009 cars.  Porsche, as a manufacturer, finished 2nd (Buick was #1 but I'm not going there -- in spite of my age). In addition, the 2009 911 was identified (along with 3 other models from different manufacturers) as being particularly outstanding.  Soooo, does anyone know something that I don't know or would you also say it's a keeper?

I'm on the same page as you. This year I brought my 2009 4s cab and love it. Like you I've read around about small concerns with the 2009 but

overall the concerns seem small compared to other models. I love mine to drive although the PDK can be a bit jerky at slow speeds. I've read that newer firmware in the PDK can help but I've not managed to get the dealer to upgrade it. I too worry about DFI deposits. I wonder if something like Seafoam occasionally might prevent that but I've not seen anything to confirm.

I say it's a keeper but make sure to drive it like you stole it.
