Has anyone ever had an issue where the tiptronic whines when its put into reverse? It does not show fault code when I scan the computer, nor does it drive strange. I don't know if servicing the tip will help. I checked with my local dealer and they have never heard of such an issue. the car has 45,000 miles. Any help I would appreciate.

I have a full time whine coming from the rear of my 2004 C4S. 1st thought to be rear differential, but diagnosed now as coming from the output shaft housing AKA transfer case, but Porsche doesn't call it that.  In process of installing another Tiptronic S tranny, but indy is having problems with new tranny throwing  a single code 51 and going into Limp Home mode / emergency run mode staying in 3rd gear. Maybe there is some other term our other members are using for the whine we are hearing, since I've had difficulty finding much info. - hutch
