ABS and Brake pad wear light issue

Would the ABS light come on as well as the brake pad wear light if the brake pads were simply low? Or would the ABS light illumination be due to another issue? Thanks

Welcome to RennTech :welcome:

The ABS network and the low pad life warning system are completely independent of each other, so one system should not trigger the other.  That said, a low battery or weak alternator can cause both to come on, even though there is no underlying reason for them to illuminate.  I would scan the car and pull all the current and pending codes as a first step to resolving this; the scan can also check your alternator output while you are at it.  The battery should be load tested to find out its state as well.

Thank you! Basically it's a car I'm looking to buy and these lights are illuminated and apparently it needs disks and pads, so he has said this is why the lights are on. Apparently the car has sat for 6 months so I imagine the battery has got low at some point (he told me he'd need to trickle charge the battery before viewing) I have a small fault reader code. What should I do?

First of all, I would never recommend buying one of these cars without a full PPI by a knowledgeable shop of your choice.  This car needs to be both looked at by someone with specific experience and scanned to see what is lurking; the problems may be only minor, but they could very well be otherwise.
