Strange grinding noise from front left tire out of no where

Hello all-

 

I was driving my Boxster home last night with no issues and from what I can tell, it started making this awful noise from the front left tire, possibly the caliper? I can reproduce the noise without applying the brake with the car off, and the vehicle in neutral. A few month ago a mechanic informed me that my front brakes would be good till next season and I have had no braking issues up to this point. 

I thought maybe it was a seized or frozen caliper, but my buddy who does a fair amount of work on cars, said even it if was seized and it shouldn't make a noise like this. With no further adieu, I will just let you see the video I took of it. WTF?  Thanks!

Check for a small stone in between the rotor and metal splash shield; we see this fairly regularly.

That's exactly what it was Jeff, thanks! I was getting frustrated trying to get the tire off after the lugs were removed, and in desperation, started to feel behind the rotor and just happened to slightly bend back the area where it was stuck. Sheer luck. But I heard it fall-  didn't see it- but it definitely wasn't bit big by the sound of it when it hit the inside of the rim.

 

I just spent 1000 bucks on having the water pump replaced a month ago, was not happy about the idea of another repair bill. Thank you again!

Not a problem; as I mentioned, we see this regularly and everyone assumes it is the end of the world when it is just a little pebble.
