Sport system disabled?

Recommended Posts

My '06 Cayman S came with the Sport Chrono package, according to  VIN Analytics. It has the dashboard stopwatch and a Sport button on the console. However, the Sport button doesn't appear to work (doesn't light up and no dash message) and there is no Chrono option in the menu.

Is it possible that the Sport system has been disabled or turned off? Is there some way to check/fix short of going on a 2-hour trip to the nearest dealer? I just bought the Durametric tool. I haven't been able to find anything in there to help, but I've also only got like 15 minutes experience using it.

It is possible that the Sport Chrono module has slipped into transit mode.  It happens after a flat or disconnected battery, and can happen to various modules.  If that's what has happened, it needs waking up by running the handover routine with a PIWIS tester.
