Do 19" Rims Really Effect Performance?

Recommended Posts

like the title says: i've heard mixed reviews on this issue. a lot of people tell me that the 996's suspension is ill-suited to the task and 19" rims are fine for style and show..but will negativly impact handling.

Is there truth to this? Someone please enlighten me.

I was going to ask the same question. I have pss9 and recently got 19's with Michelin ps2. It could be because the tires are new, but i have about 250 miles on them and i don't feel nearly as confident around corners. To me the car definitely does not feel as planted. I'll give it a couple hundred more miles and see if it's any better. Hopefully it's just the tires breaking in. I'd be curious to see if anyone else has similar setup and what their experiences are.

European Car magazine reported on a 19" upgrade and found "suspension needed further development" (couple of months ago I think). If memory serves me correctly a 996TT.

Hopefully I haven't thrown the mag away and can dig the article up.
