I installed a Pioneer 4500NEX with wireless CarPlay in my '01 996 C2 and it works beautifully. It fits into the dash by moving the HVAC controls to the bottom (easy). I also installed a backup camera that displays in the Pioneer screen when shifted into reverse. Now my 2001 is updated, my iphone syncs wirelessly as I enter the car, all the great features of CarPlay and my wife no longer whines about my tunes.

I bought the Pioneer AVH-3400 NEX because I have the GT3 console delete in my car. It’s easy enough to put the screen down when you need to access the HVAC controls. I have a power amp and a custom ported speaker built into the spare. It sounds great. Nice to have a solid in-car Bluetooth phone solution and navigation as well. It only falls down on AM reception.
