2013 Cayenne D , transmission service ?

Recommended Posts

Morning people ,

I am going to be replacing the transmission fluid on my `13 Cayenne diesel (68k miles) soon and have just one question regarding the original fluid.

When doing the pan drop fluid and filter change you only get around 60 - 70% of the original fluid out so , not wanting to mix different brands of fluids , i need to know if from the factory Aisin 0C8 gearbox comes with Aisin fluid or Porsche fluid ?

Or , if anyone has done the above and used a different brand of fluid for the partial fluid replacement with success then that would be good to know.

Been getting various quotes from local transmission "specialists" and not been filled with confidence in their replies to any questions i have asked so have decided to do it myself.

Thanks in advance - Kenny

I was hoping you would get some traction on this question as I have a 2013 CD with 160k and a 2011 CTT with 80k and I am contemplating doing the trans fluid on both.

What did you end up doing with yours?

Note: I have replaced the transfer case fluid in the CTT 15k ago with Ravenol TF-0870 and it is working well.

Replaced it myself , ordered 10L of transmission fluid from Opie oils , filter and sump gasket from Autodoc - total price was £150 (ish) . The 10L of oil was enough for two changes , the second change was done after a run up to temp to allow the oil cooler thermostat to open.

No changes to shifting but at least i know it has been done , properly.

Next on the list is both diffs and transfer case fluids.

Kenny,

I have found a kit from Blauparts that comes with 9L of fluid, the manual I have says filling capacity is 10L, you said 10L gave you two changes--can you shed some insight?

Did you drain the lines to the radiator?

My manual also specifies 2 special tools (adapters) for filling, did you use these or were you able to fill and check levels without them?

Thanks!

Didn`t split the lines , ran the car up to temp (80 degrees trans oil temp) which allowed the thermostat to open and mix with the new oil and gave it a second flush.

Made a filling tube myself (M10 x 1mm) to replace the oil , the level checking tube is already under the drain plug - you remove this once the sump plug is removed.

I think I now understand the difference in quantities.

According to the manual, part of the procedure includes draining the ATF lines at the bottom of the transmission AND draining the front ATF lines.

To drain the front ATF lines, you must remove and install the ATF thermostat--to do that, you must remove the front apron (bumper cover). Seems like a lot of work for maybe only a small amount of fluid to replace.

So just a few last questions from the guy who doesn't want to remove the bumper:

How much fluid did the initial fill require?

How much fluid required to top off after the warmup?
