2003 Boxster Passenger Door Stuck Closed

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I replaced the passenger door lock actuator with an aftermarket unit, it worked for a couple weeks and then stopped working and the central locking had error codes in Durametric. At present I cannot open the passenger door from inside or outside. I managed to remove the door panel with the door shut and using a spare door wiring harness hotwired the lock mechanism with a 12v supply, I can actuate the lock this way - can hear the motor run briefly and a some door lock type noises - but it's still stuck closed. I have a known good lock I used to figure out the wires that connect to the lock motor. Leaning on the door while pulling the handle, pounding on it inside and out, disconnecting the outside handle - none of this worked.

I'm at the point where the only solution I can come up with to try next is to cut out the lock mechanism out by going in with a Dremel or similar tool. Any thoughts before I start that process? And if I do that, what do I need to cut? I have a spare lock mechanism (the old original broken one) and I've stared at it, not entirely clear what would have to be cut/destroyed to get it to open.

Thanks for any input!

In case anyone searches for this in the future, the Bentley manual wiring diagram is not correct for a 2003. I had to experiment with different combinations of ground/positive, eventually stumbled on one that worked and the door popped open.

Did you have a bad wire or connector?

I recently tried a cheap door lock actuator on my 2011 Cayenne Turbo. It worked intermittently and gave implausible signal codes so the alarm would not set.

It was from a place called excellent-autopart on eBay. They were responsive until I asked for a refund then went comm out. This cheap Chinese part and this vendor is a non-recommend from me.

The URO part from Rock Auto that is in there now has been working great--twice the price of the knockoff, but 30-50% less than the Porsche part.
