I have a 2008 Cayenne S with the factory PCM.  The date displayed is currently "02/03/2003"., see picture  I checked the manual for how to reset the month, day and year, and evidently if you have factory navigation, you can't adjust this.  The manual notes that the PCM gets the month, day and year from the GPS signal.

The PCM diagnostic shows that I have a solid GPS signal.  The car navigation system works without a problem.  However, the month, day and year won't properly update.

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to fix this/  It isn't critical, just highly annoying.

In a somewhat unrelated 2 questions:

1. The PCM screen appears to have been coated in "something" at one time, about 80% of which is no longer there.  Is there anyway of getting that remaining coating off the screen?

2. A lot of the dash parts were coated with a black rubberized coating, which like everything else, is peeling off.  You can see it in the attached picture to the left of the passenger seat heater control. Short of removing all the dash pieces and peeling off the remaining black gunk, is there anyway to refresh or renew this short of buying new trim pieces?

Thanks,

Known issue for older PCMs.

No fix as yet.

See attachment for info.

You can also remove the MOST plug from the DVD and set the date, but the date will reset to the wrong date when you plug the MOST connector back into the DVD and the system receives the GPS signal again.
