Clutch Pedal Spring Question

I have a '98 Boxster 5-spd manual and the clutch pedal has always made a creaking sound when you depress it. I assumed it was the clutch pedal spring as they have been known to make noises and bought a replacement clutch spring (part number 986 423 081 12) which is shown to be the correct part for my '98, but as you can see in the picture the part has been redesigned.  The top section has a hole the pin goes through where the original design has it sitting in a "C" under tension.

 

Does anyone know how I remove the original pin from the clutch arm?  I don't see a "c-clip" so I can slide this pin out and in the new design the pin goes through a hole.  Do I have to order an updated clutch arm?
