Hi all,

I've been working on replacing the starter motor in my 2008 Porsche Cayenne S (957) and while I'm in the "V" I figured I would replace the knock sensors anyway.

But now that I have a clear view of them, I'm wondering if there is an easy way to remove and install new ones without taking the coolant pipe (948 106 069 10) off.

Since I don't need to remove it to replace the starter, I would like to avoid it if at all possible.

I have tried using small torx wrenches and U-joints but nothing seems to fit. I could probably use a pair of pliers but that seems like a less than ideal situation.

Wondering if there is a special tool I can use for this that I'm not aware of.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

PS: My "V" had a bunch of (what seemed like) insulation wool inside of it. I have not seen this in any videos or pictures of other peoples Cayennes. Is this normal, and if so where can I get more?

Gotcha. In that case I will probably just replace the ones underneath the starter motor.

I have not had any coolant leak in my "V" so I'm guessing (or hoping) they are still good for a while.
