Air Bag Deactiviation and Removal

Recommended Posts

all,

I need to instructions for adding a resistor to simulate the Airbags in the car - this is to prevent the warning light and code in the DME.

Here's why: My car has all 4 airbags installed and working. My plan is to A. install a infant seat in the front (the porsche seat is NLA and frankly crappy compared to recent seats). the infant seat will be used only on rare occasions as my wife will be home most of the time but i need a way to transport in the case of emergency.

Before everyone starts in on the Airbag topic - i know and realise that yes the are safer and that a car seat should not be in the front seat, etc. Porsche provides no other alternative for infant seat mounting from the factory. It's strickely for occasional use only, etc.

The second reason is that the car will hit the track in the future- i do not want air bags in a track car. I will be using a 6pt harness and custom roll bar with hans device. The steering wheel will also be changed out as well. This will happen in about 1.5 years so the timing with the child seat transport and the track are working out. (i will be moving daily driving chores to another car/955)

i f you have the instructions/location for placing the resistor - please email it if you are not comfortable posting it here Rlynch@microsoft.com

I will use them at my own risk and liability.

Thanks

Rob
