What to about 1 month storage ?

Recommended Posts

I won't be driving my 2001 Boxster S for a month. Does it need to be started during that period ? How often would you suggest ?

The manual suggests pumping the tires up to 58 psi. In the "Storing your Porsche" section, it is suggested to charge the battery every 2 - 3 weeks, if the cables are connected. Under the "Battery" section it mentions to charge the battery every 6 weeks, if the car is not driven.

What would this group recommend ? What has been your experience.

We live in a moderate climate, where the temperatures rarely goes below zero, particlarly in the fall.

A month? A whole month?

Lock it, leave it and don't worry about it.

You will need to use the key to unlock the door when you go to get back in, but other than that, the battery will hold it's charge for a month, if the tires flatspot, they will be back to normal after 2 or 3 miles and everything will be just fine!

Seriously. Button it up like you do every night and it will be just fine.

I agree with highlander - it's only a month.

Park it as normal. If you lock it, you will need to use the key manually in the door slot to unlock since the key sensor 'goes to sleep' after a couple of days of inactivity.

Flat spots in tires are NOT a problem, they will go away after your tires warm up. Tires take about as long as an engine to warm up.

Even a fully flat tire would not be a big deal if only for a month (unless that month is in full desert sun.)

Hi,

I also agree with Highlander, except to add that you should fill the fuel tank to prevent moisture from condensing in the tank, besides, the way things are today, it'll probably be cheaper to fill it now than it will in a month's time. I might also give it a spray of Fabreeze or such to avoid having a stale smell on your return.

Happy Motoring!...Jim'99
