looking to come back to porsche ownership...

Hey everyone, about a year ago I sold my 2002 996 Targa and went to a 2004 audi s4 for the reasons of it being more practical, cheaper to maintain, and at the time I needed the money elsewhere. Well after a year I am really regreting selling the porsche, really miss the community, even though audi has a great following, and want to get another porsche. I'm still undecided about what to get, I love the 997 for its more modern and up to date interior but just can't convince myself to spend the money on a new or used 997 carrera S. I'm thinking of getting another 996, I did love having the targa for its uniqueness and its open air feeling but am having a hard time finding one. Does anyone know of any good deals on 02 or newer targa? I do like the convertible badly but just don't know if I want to goto a convertible and then keep wishing I had a coupe/targa when winter/bad weather comes around. So if anyone on here is looking to move out of their targa or knows of one that has a warranty of some sort please let me know. I do all my own work so don't really need the warranty that much but do want it in case I run into any RMS problems...

I'd get a cab with a hardtop. If you like targa, you can find it at a cheaper price too as they are not very desirable. You'll probly stay away from coupe as you'll want some open air action that coupe won't provide.

Look on ebay and other popular boards. There is usually a good deal if you can wait a month or two.

I have a 997 Cab and can tell you that they have insulated the top better than any previous model. My 996, with the top up, was much louder than my 997. Also, I had the hard top for the 996 and while it may be nice, it's awful noisy creaking and banging every time you turn or hit a bump. There's a good reason every Porsche dealer has them lying around the shop, no one wants them. Don't believe me, call your dealer. Many people buy these cars used and don't even want the hard top. I have to say, I don't want it either. I love my convertible, but it is a second driver for me (weekend car). The car does have more frame flex in hard turns, I've driven both the convertible and coupe side-by-side and it is noticeable, but not significant. Good luck!
