Electrical Problem

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 boxster and I was messing around with the wiring from the ignition switch and touched some metal and there was a spark. Now the windows don't go down, the AC unit has no power, the dash does not illuminate, and I can't start the car. None of the fuses in the fuse box are blown. Is there fuse somewhere else? Does anyone have any idea what the problem can be?

Did you try to lock/unlock the car again?

Yeah, the central locking system works fine. I locked and unlocked the doors with the key manually and with the remote. the alarm system works too. My main problem is that there is no power at the ignition leads.

Not that it's relevant now, but whenever working on the elctrical system disconnect the battery.

Sometimes you can't tell if a fuse is broken or not, even if it looks good. Try replaceing one you know should be working like dash lights and see if putting a brand new fuse in it will fix the problem.

If not you have done other damage and may be going to the dealer.
