  1. Okay, just picked up my 2016 GT4 last week... some funny things I have noticed since then. Wonder if these would be caused by not having the car programmed correctly for the options it has? There is no Wiper option in the Vehicle / Settings / Light & Visibility section as described in the manual... I have the rain sensing wiper option and the sensor seems to be physically present but no option in my menu to set it to automatic versus manual operation. Auto dimming mirrors do not seem to dim for exterior... the interior mirror has the buttons and sensor but the outside mirrors do not dim at night along with the interior rear view mirror. According to the options code all mirrors should dim together. The Hill Hold does not work... I see the HOLD light up during startup self check of the car but when on a hill the car rolls back and there is no light in the dash. On my 2014 991 (that was also manual trans) the hill hold worked fine and when active the green HOLD light would show. Has anyone seen stuff like this before? I know with VW/Audi and a Vag-Com you can set features like these electronically so I am wondering if somehow Porsche forgot to set these on my car. I plan to take it to the dealer to fix but wanted to see if this has happened before. David
  2. Loren, is there a list of these options which can be turned on? Even if I have to pay the dealer they might be worth it. Wonder if there are some Euro options that can be done as well similar to what Vag-Com can do for VW and Audi cars. Thanks
  3. Hi everyone, made the jump from a 996 to a 991 and was curious if there was any electronic coding options that could be done via PIWIS? Examples would be activating the passenger side mirror for reverse and controlling the windows via remote. I have heard there are things that can be done but just curious what options were available. :) David
  4. Okay, I will join in the summer fun... pics below from Santa Cruz, one of my favorite summer drives is to do West Cliff starting at Natural Bridges and follow the coast past the Boardwalk and Yacht Harbor over to Capitola. :) Yes, the top was put down after the pics were taken! LOL
  5. Hi everyone, I installed my ROW 030 suspension and now need to correct my alignment. The rear is pretty easy with some dog bone adjustable arms but what about the front? I know there are several options out there one of which was the Cross (JIC) camber plates which I cannot find. Since this is not for a race set up I would prefer a infinitely adjustable type of camber plate were I can dial in a modest camber for street purposes. I found one at Ground Control but cannot seem to find any people using this (I tried searching). Has anyone heard of this unit? http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=909/CA=97 David
  6. Yep, they still do this at Stevens Creek Porsche. I had a new key cut for my 2001 996 there since I only received one old key with the car when I bought it. They had to program it in so I think the total labor was $125 plus the cost of the key itself. FYI
  7. I recently ran into this issue on my 2001 C2... payed my local dealer to install a new fuel sending unit and have it calibrated, only to find out the newer PST2 units are not working with some of the modules in older cars including mine! They were not able to calibrate it. If anyone knows of a place in the bay area that can do this please post it! :)
  8. I actually added the newer light unit as an upgrade on my 1999... it was nice to have the ambient light for the interior and was plug and play. I think I had to trim the "key" part of the connector with an Xacto knife to make it plug in to my older harness though. ;)
  9. Too funny, I will be doing my motor mounts soon as well... along with water pump and maybe coilovers. Seems like we should arrange a local "work on car day" for the bay area. I have not been to one in years. LOL David
  10. Wow, sorry to hear this. I am looking to replace my top soon so please let the rest of us know which shop this is so we do not go there! I have the same issue with that wire by the way on my 2001 996 Cab. Just seems like a cosmetic issue on mine since the top works fine. Also do not know if this top is original or not. Please let us know how it goes on any repair you end up doing, some of us might need to do the same thing on ours. ;)
  11. Well, just finished this project up... not too bad. About 2 hours total including the fuel filter replacement. I had a little under a half a tank of gas so I just used gloves to remove the pump. Everything was pretty straight forward, and I did this out in my driveway to keep the fuel fumes from being an issue. :)
  12. Help, looks like I have the same issue but the fuel pump is dead... any easy way to drain the tank without the fuel pump working? Speedracer, I know this thread is old but where did you buy your parts from? Great prices! David
  13. I have a shifter assembly out of a 2001 Carrera that I would be willing to sell cheap. I upgraded to a 997 shifter and this is just sitting in my garage. Let me know if your interested. David
  14. Guys, I have a complete rear spoiler from my 2001 Carrera that includes the motor and harnes that I would be willing to sell if anyone needs it. I upgraded to a fixed spoiler GT2 style and no longer need it. FYI David
