When the car starts, everything related to the radio is normal, but the LED on the Rear Defroster switch stays on all of the time. I was told the Rear Defroster relay is bad so I purchase a replacement. I'm having a problem locating this relay. Is it located under the dash or behind the rear seat? Which relay is it?
Hello Porsche experts, I recently purchased a used 911 Carerra, 2003 and had the fuel pump fail. So I looked around in Orange County to find a Porsche mechanic and ended up taking it to Hergesheimer. They replaced the fuel pump but a few days latter I experienced something very troubling. The car would start but idle was somewhat rough. Revving the engine was a challenge in the lower RPM 1000-3000 then it became a bit smoother when driving with load on the engine in the 3000-4000 RPM range. Alarmed by this I called the shop to bring the car in, but this was the day before the Rennsport Reunion in Laguna Seca so I dropped by another mechanic who brought up these error codes on a generic diagnostics tool: P0134 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank I Sensor 1) P0101 Mass Airflow Sensor / Circuit range issue Performance problem P0154 O2 Sensor no activity detected (Bank 2 post CAT ) P2098 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 2 P2096 O2 Sensor no activity detected Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean (Bank 1) P0156 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2 post CAT) Initially I thought this was related to the fuel pump replacement. So I called the shop who did the work and they said bring it over. Their analysis identified similar codes and they suggested a few hours to review the harness and sensors in order to asses the problem. A week later i am still trying to resolve this and wondered if I should replace the O2 sensors myself. I have done brakes and other minor maintenance. What is the opinion of the forum here on next steps? I can provide further detail
Hi all, I am new to the forum and the Porsche community! I am currently in the market for a 996 911 C4S. I located an EXTREMELY clean C4S with the following options and specs. Because I am new to the community, I am not exactly sure what it is worth. I have a brake Proportining warning light on my 2003 cayenne everything works fine truck drives, the only thing that doesn't work is the speedo (mph) side,& won't mark miles as I drive it stays at 104k, rpm side works fine, from time to time the radio starts to turn the volume up or down alone, like if it has a mind of its own. One more thing the nav won't work it stays at my house street even tho I'm in another city, I checked under my driver side carpet everything looks good! Dry! I even check the 4 sonic welded wires that get corroded, they seem clean with No corrosion, checked all fuse boxes and every fuse one by one they all seem fine,any help would be greatly appreciated I'm trying to fix this problem ASAP thank guys!
Hi all. I have a problem with my 2003 996 Cab. When top is up and I experience a change in slope such as turning into an uphill driveway I hear a bumping sound from the top of the windshield. Any ideas what this might be and how I might fix it?. Thanks in advance
Hey all, I have an intermittent issue with a convertible top on a 2003 Boxster. After the car has sat for over a week the convertible top won't go up or down via the switch on the dash. Thanks to the great advice on these forums I was able to eliminate a lot of potential problems (parking break dash light, micro switches, blown fuses). Then I came to some suggestions involving the relay panel and, sure enough, if I pull a relay and put it back in, the convertible top switch on the dash works again. What I can't figure out is why this works. It seems like I'm pulling the wrong relay? I 'borrowed' this pic from another thread because the relay panel looks the same as mine. Everything I've been reading says that the convertible top relay is the long rectangular white box. However, when I pull the smaller white box to the right of it and put it back in, the one with the blue sides (see pic below), the top works again. In case anyone can't see it from the above, here's another pic... The relay I pull to get the top to work again is the one to the right of the yellow outline: Does anyone know why the top works by pulling the wrong box, to the right of what should be the convertible top relay? What is this relay, and if I replace it would it alleviate the issue?
Hi guys, new member and newbie Porsche owner. I have just noticed that the fuel gage doesn't read "full" after I filled up with gas. I have read posts on the web that range from saying the dealer must "calibrate" the gage after draining the tank, to others that say you can reset the whole thing by disconnecting the battery overnight. Does anyone know if disconnecting the battery will fix this, and more importantly, will disconnecting the battery cause any other problems that I'll need to resolve? Also, I decided to look at the cabin filter, and it looks like there should be a cover over the top of the element that mates to a plastic latch. My car has the outer cover that needs a Torx bit to remove, but the cover over the element is not there; is this normal? Thanks for any help
