Tom Morris has a great DIY for this. You can find it here

I don't see graphite gray in the parts list so that headliner will likely be a special order - and without sunroof.
To relace it you will need to remove the A, B and C pillars. There are 8 clips that hold it in place. I do not know if they can be reused or not.

I can't open the thread. Can you share a search keyword? Thanks for the guidance.
Okay, the link is fixed.

Yes.Would the same switch work in a different location?Any of the factory rockers switches will work. Which switch do you want to use?
Here is a few of the common ones Yoseif's Switch page

That does not seem to be a good part number. Are you talking about the dome strut supports in the front trunk or the shock struts?

Loren,
Is this relay grid located under the front hood somewhere? I don't recall seeing it in the passenger compartment.
Thank you,
Mark
Down in the footwell where the spoiler switch is.
Pull the cover off - use the hole.
(Jeff's pic - I think)

I lost one of the small, round plastic covers for the hole for the hardtop mounts (rear left and right). Can anyone provide the replacement part number. I think they are the same whether it is right or left side.
Have a look at this thread.
Is this what you need?

I'd like to use one of the blanks to the left of my radio, below the PSM switch, for my garage door opener. Does anyone know a part number for a switch that fits there; it needs to be a momentary contact type switch that keeps the circuit completed only as long as you hold it down.

Cast iron or Ceramic?
You will need rotors, calipers, and front wheel carriers from a MK1 GT3 or GT2.
The TT front wheel carriers (hubs) will not fit on a C2 as they are for 4WD cars. So you need the front wheel carriers from a 2WD car.

can anyone point me in the right direction into getting a paper or electronic form?
The correct part number and supplement level for the Carrera (996) Service Manual is:
Carrera (1999 on) -- Workshop Manual -- 94 supplements -- 17 volumes -- WKD-483-721

Most engine mods are tested with the engine only type of dynos. Roller type dynos are not known to be very accurate and can cause damage to the car.
Here is an excerpt from a TT TSB on dynos:
If the vehicle is run on a two-wheel roller dynamometer, sufficient inner-cooling cannot be ensured. As a result, boost air temperatures reach excessive values. This will lead to loss of engine power anddamage to the engine due to overheating.
The considerable amount of heat generated may damage the transmission.
The significant amount of slip at the wheels caused by the high power output may lead to incorrect output measurements and damage the tires.
Note: Tire damage may not be immediately recognizable.

Thanks Loren,
I know it's not the olive grain. I'm thinking that it must be the rootwood. For what it's worth the listing in a Tequipment catalog for the whole package is:
Dark walnut wood interior package
955 044 800 18
Hope the above helps.
Item 8 in rootwood (as it is called in the parts list) is:
MY 04 -- 955 552 297 01 4X2 Trim Centre Console
MY 05 -- 955 552 297 02 4X2 Trim Centre Console
-
The parts list shows part listing for olive grain, rootwood, and ash wood for the console trim piece (8 above). Please check your option code numbers as I don't know which is which.

Loren, please send me the email as well on how to check #'s 3-5. Thanks!

I use hockey pucks - about $4 at your local sporting goods store.

PM me with your email address and I will send you the instructions.

For a Boxster S (all years):
996 352 741 00 Tension Spring (4 per car) $11.97 each (as of Nov 2003)

The spacers will fit your car -- but may or may not be recommended for your wheels. The TSB calls out specific tire and wheel combinations where these spacers have been tested to be safe.

P1531 has three likely causes (according to the OBD II manual):
- Open circuit in triggering wire.
- Open circuit in B+ supply.
- Actuator faulty.
Basically the troubleshooting is check the wiring - if it is okay then replace the actuator.

The hardtop was changed in 1998 and that version is now used for all model years 1997-2004.

headliner replacement... easy or difficult?
in 996 GT3

For the most part yes.
The coat hook slides up and off. Then you will need to take the bolt out of the seat belt slide and remove the screw in the B pillar. Then that part of the B pillar will come off. The rest comes off by pulling inward along the roof (C pillar) and the windshield (A pillar).
