  1. I've been on the lookout for 2 months for a set of take off C4 wheels. What I need are 8x18 fronts and 11x18 rears for the 997 / 997S. I'll be putting R-comps on them and would rather find an unhappy owner of a set (somebody that brought the car home and switched to aftermarket) and work something out. I've been monitoring eBay and for some reason there are plenty of C2 sets for sale, but no C4. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it (ie: Is there a Porsche "parts swap" anywhere?).

    Thanks,

    Ron

    Ron,

Try wheelenhancement.com they have all the latest and sometimes take offs. They will trade as well.

  2. Guys:

Is there a way to change the volume of "Bitchin' Betty's" voice commands on the Navi system? If I turn the Bose system up loud, she BOOMS over it... I'd like to knoch her down a coupla 10 db or so.

I didn't see it in the manual...

    TIA,

    -don

I believe that you adjust the volume of the nav with the volume control while she is speaking. It will always be louder than the audio system though. Hope this helps.

  3. I think there was a control unit (box) for spoilers (except RS and turbo) . You may need to look at another 993 and compare what is there and what is not.

When I get the car home and have a chance to look it over, I will re post any questions.

    Thanks

  4. Yes, I think so.

    Loren,

I just looked at the pics of the car I am buying, and the rear spoiler is different than the illustration you posted. On the car I am buying, It has the Factory installed Aerokit Turbo II f&r Spoilers. I notice that there is no wiring to the underside of this rear spoiler. I want to replace it with a factory split grill engine lid with the integrated moveable spoiler. On the stock lid I am looking at, it has a wiring harness that has a plug connector on the end of it. My question is, did the factory supply the wiring for this type lid even though it came with the Aerokit? Is it just tucked under the insulation, and be just a simple plug in connection at that point?

    Thanks.

  5. As I recall the split grill engine lid is the Aerokit I spoiler (one of three types sold). I don't have instructions (or I may have them and can't find them - LOL) for the Aerokit II but I suspect it is similar to the Aerokit I which removed the fuse, the spoiler warning light and removed the switch in the dash.

    Loren,

Thanks for the reply. Do you think the wiring would be there, and all I would need to do is connect it, and install and wire a switch?

  6. to purchase a 1998 993C2S with factory installed Aerokit Turbo II F/R Spoilers, and I want to remove the rear spoiler to replace it with a stock split grill engine lid. My question is pertaining to whether the factory installed wiring for the retractable spoiler, at both engine area as well as the switch area?

  7. From reading posts, it seems like 18" rims provide a better ride and better handling than 19" rims, and tires for 18" rims are cheaper than those for 19" rims, but many people think 19" rims look better. Is that true? If so, can you put 18" rims on a 997S, which ships with 19" rims standard, or will it confuse the speedometer/odometer or any of the computerized systems like ABS or ESP? Thanks.

18" will give a better ride, while 19" will be better handling. both 18" and 19" have the same diameter so it will not change speedometer/odometer. Why would you want to put 18" instead of19" on a S ?

  8. Hi all,

I'm in the process of looking for a 993 2S and was inform that they were only produced in limited numbers at the end of the 993's production run. I've seen quite a few on the web and was wondering if anyone knows how many were produced in total. Although I drive (and love) a 996 4S, I still think the 993 2S and 4S will go down in history as one of the most beautiful 911s produced.

The ones I have seen are being sold at a premium over standard 993s of the same age, condiion and mileage. What kind of premuim should I be willing to pay over a standard 993 C2?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

1752 produced for the US market

  9. jnx - I would say the PSE on my 997S is very similar to 996 PSE (which I had), but maybe even better! Deep, growly, rumbly sound, pretty loud, but manageable when needed. Otherwise hard to describe, but for me I am absolutely grinning from ear to ear with it!!! If you heard 996 PSE and liked it, then just get the PSE, its even better!

Thanks Man, That is what I wanted to know.

  10. Installed PSE today - ON all the time! The kit did not include a control module and obviously its all controlled by the DME now, so it seems very unlikely there is any shortcut hack to solve the 30-50mph cutoff problem.

I had Fabspeed mufflers on for a week - not my style - but I absolutely love the PSE!

jcnesq... I too had the Fabspeed mufflers, I removed them after 1 day, not my style either. Could you give me your impression of the PSE sound? is it similar to the PSE on the 996? I want to install this, but I have not had the chance to hear it, so I would like some opinions please. Thanks

  11. It is very similar to the 996 install. If you want the full switched control then you would need to run the wiring through the car from the engine compartment to the dash. Add the relay and wiring to the fuse panel, add the vacuum connections in the engine compartment and mount the mufflers.

The signal for activating the flaps in the main exhaust mufflers is provided by maps in the DME control module, not via the vehicle speedometer as was done with previously

    version systems.

Loren, is there a difference between the 996 and 997 sport exhaust muffler?
