  1. I disagree...I've had my EVO Hi-Flo on my car for going on the fourth year with absolutely no MAF or CEL problems. Problems arise when owners over-oil the filters, thinking more is better. I doubt the cold air filter does much for HP, but the intake sound is intoxicating and worth every penny. K&N type (gauze) filters need to be lightly oiled (they come pre-oiled; some owners ignore this and add addional oil), then wrapped in paper towel or newspaper to further remove any excess. I clean mine once a year and always follow this procedure. BTW, I've run them on my 911s for the last 20 years without issue, as well.
  2. The ones that show up on eBay are usually "lifted" from unsuspecting Boxster owners who left their top down in a parking lot. Easy to grab and sell...
  3. That's whats so great about this forum...there are a lot of people out there much smarter when it comes to these cars, than I will ever be. Plus, if you experience a problem, it is likely someone had the same problem and posted it here with the results. After reading page after page, I feel like I spent the night in a Holiday Inn Express.
  4. You will need the offset specs to determine "if "the wheels will fit; however, I don't know of anyone that's been able to stuff a Carrera 11 in the rear, even with spacers. Also, a 265/40 is too narrow on an 11 wheel anyway. Boxster offsets are generally et50 front and et47 rear.

  6. I have the non-smokers tray in mine...bought it off eBay brand new for around $40. Removed my perfect original ashtray and sold it on eBay for about the same. I really like the tray, as it's a perfect spot to park my cell phone.

  8. Car is an '03 base and was last serviced 12k miles ago by the dealer (15k service). Oil 0-50W, is full I think you answered your own question...50 weight is too heavy for these cars. Switch to a good brand 5W40 synthetic and hopefully the problem will go away.
  9. I jack my car up, then lower it to drain the oil. Only problem I have is the car is so low, it sits on (and starts to crush) my plastic drain container. I have to drive it up on 2X4s just to get the floor jack underneath, so maybe I should raise the front wheels, as well. I'll be doing the oil again in the next couple weeks, because I wish to install my new LN billet filter adapter and can filter (Mobil M1-107)...hopefully I won't lose too much of the fresh Royal Purple I put in last fall.
  10. "Try starting the car and then disconnecting the battery. It should keep running if the alternator is good." I'm not an expert, but I think running the car without the battery connected will cause more harm than good. The battery is a buffer for the entire electrical system.
  11. Thanks for the info. I feel the stock wheels are too narrow to begin with, so I installed wider wheels and tires all the way around (18 X 8 & 10); no gaps for me ('02 S).

  13. I've also had the Evo Hi-Flo for the last three years, without issue. I doubt it adds little if any HP, but the difference in sound is worth every penny. If you purchase one with the oiled filter, be very careful not to over oil; this is the main source of MAF problems and complaints. I always wrap mine in newspaper after oiling to soak up any excess and have never had a problem.

  17. Is it possible just to replace the bushings? I'm used to 911's where all the bushings are replaceable.
  18. I rolled the front fenders on my '73 911 with a wooden baseball bat. I helps to heat the paint (warm, not hot) to keep it from cracking. Works like a charm with no damage; but do take your time, instead of trying to do it all at once.
  19. I would have to presume you are correct, as it doesn't make sense to me. Sorry I couldn't help, but sounds like you're under control.
  20. Are you sure these wheels have a positive offset of 42? If so, they should have been rubbing the inside of the wheel wells, not the outside. I have 18 x 10's on the rear of my '02 S with an offset of 47...I am tight on the inside, but certainly not on the outside. Your statements are confusing to me...
  21. If you were already hitting the out fender lip, why would you put on spacers? Your wheels are the wrong offset already. You can probably remedy the problem by removing the spacers and adding more negative camber, though it will increase tire wear.
  22. Thanks for laying that out, Bill...sometimes my answers are short and to the point. I guess when I purchase a car, I read or investigate what I'm getting and getting into. This certainly isn't a knock on our original poster; these forums are a wealth of information and I enjoy reading all the comments and collective knowledge.
