  1. Good advice on driving another car...sounds like you either still have air in the lines or another problem. The brake pedal on my '02 S is very firm all the time. Also, stainless lines are not recommended for a street car. Your factory rubber lines will be good for another twenty years. Your calipers have two bleeder valves per. If using a pressure bleeder, open one of the valves and lightly tap the caliper with a rubber mallet...you'd be surprised how air gets stuck.
  2. I know this is a "revived" older thread, but I did my door pocket covers today and am very happy with the results. Thanks for the ideas...keep them coming.
  3. Was looking for a nice red/tan S myself a couple years back. I've owned numerous black/black or red/black 911s and wanted something a little different for a change and knew a black interior would not be best with a cabriolet. Well, got part of my wish with Savana interior, but ended up black again on the outside! Have a great time with your new ride and enjoy it every chance you get. BTW, add pictures...
  4. The EVO Hi-Flow produces the most intoxicating induction noise imaginable. I doubt it adds anything in the HP department, but the noise alone is worth every dime. To remove the airbox, big screwdriver and snips...who needs the thing anyway? Mine went into the trash in about twenty pieces...the last thing I wanted to do is loosen the intake manifold and possibly create problems.
  5. Had a can of Arctic Silver spray paint from "Paintscratch"...clear coated over the spray and re-installed. I think it gives a subtle contrast. I have to agree; 17s are too small for the Boxster. I had considered 19s, but settled on 18s. Your's look very good. The funny part is, my car actually rides better, though firm, than the stock setup (car originally came with 17s). But compared to my 911 with a track suspension, anything feels better on the street!
  6. Just for reference, 18s (8 & 10s) on a lowered H&R sport suspension. Ride is not harsh, but firm. I avoid potholes, as the car is pleasure driven only.
  7. That wear pattern would suggest camber is out of spec. Either your left has too much or the right has little to none. I run -1.5* camber on my fronts, but put very little mileage on the car, so I can't speak of wear. Also, if the toe is out, the tire could have a bit of push to it and would cause odd wear. Have any of the suspension components been changed out? At that mileage, the bushings and shocks would need replacement, if not done so already.
  8. And to think all along, I thought these cars were persnickety and sensitive to everything. I had a CEL come on once when I changed to my sport exhaust; went off almost as quickly as I went on and no lasting code or after effect.
  9. Removing the dash is at least an 8 hour job... Geez, that looks worse than brain surgery!
  10. 315s? This I want to see. You'll probably have to raise the car "rally style" to get those to fit!
  11. "I would be more concerned why your camber isn't coming into spec. What are your numbers exactly? Do you have any suspension modifications (lowering springs, etc)? It sounds like the car may be tweaked". Sounds like someone may have hit a large pothole or curbing and damaged the suspension at some point. This car ever been tracked?
  12. I, for one, found that de-snorkeling my '02 S was not enough. The EVOMS Hi Flow intake makes an intoxicating sound that I never tire of...it just plain howls as the revs climb. Many owners over-oil their filters and cause all sorts of problems; it's all in knowing what you're doing.
  13. The LED lights look like total rice as far as I'm concerned. When I changed out my ambers, I went with these OEM types.
  14. Glad you werre able to remove it. I yanked on mine to the point where I thought it would never come off; I pictured the knob embedded in my forehead. The B&Ms are a wonderful addition to the car. Everytime I drive another Boxster or 996, I think this poor sucker doesn't know what they're missing.
  15. The car looks good after the lowering. The specs look OK...just a little surprised they couldn't be closer side to side (unless they did this to compensate for the driver). I run around neg 1.5* in the front and neg 2.6* in the rear of my '02 S after installing H&R sports. It is true upon lowering, you'll never get back close to factory specs. Just expect a little more rapid tire wear on the inside due to the increased neg camber.
  16. FWIW, I have 10's (et47) on the rear of my '02 S with 275/35s. Car is also lowered with H&R sports springs. When fitting, be certain the wheel does not rub on the parking brake cable, as mine did. I was clear all suspension and shock points, but heard this strange whinning noise that would increase in pitch the faster I went. Upon removing the wheel, I noticed a groove rubbed into the cable (fortunately not severe). All was was fixed with a couple wide cable ties holding the brake cable close to the rear suspension arm.
  17. I saw one of these kits in person this summer at Autobahn CC. I agree the front looks pretty good, but the rear just made me nauseous; way out of proportion. It didn't help that the car was painted a metallic flake red....kit car give-a-way. Might as well have a Laser GT... (It does look like the 2010 cover car)
  18. It's all about sound! The Evo High Flow is the best thing to make your Boxster sound like a GT3 (and I drive alot of GT3s). The howl the intake makes is absolutely seductive. Whether particulate is captured compared to an OEM filter, I drive this car for pleasure; therefore, the trade off is worth it. I do not drive in a dusty, high traffic area and the car is used for pleasure only. Many high performance race motors only used screens to keep the big chunks out (they are also rebuilt after 50 hours or so). These cars are for pleasure, so do you you want.
  19. I run with an Evo High Flow (oiled) on my '02 Boxster S. Two years running and not a single problem. The suspect is usually the uninformed installer that typically over oils the filter upon installation. I've had K&Ns on my 911s for years, so I know the routine.
  20. Who needs lowering springs when you can load 'er up with sandbags! Looks good...
  21. You're swapping for a 996 bumper cover? Is there anything wrong with your present bumper? I guess I don't see how this will make an improvement over the present appearance. If you are putting on an aerokit spoiler, I'd go with something like a GT3 bumper instead (just my opinion).
