  1. The new engine was in the car when I got it. It was replaced under warranty at the time.
  2. The Engine on my car that blew was not due to the RMS. It is printed in my service manual that it is done by Porsche and I saw the service slip when I bought the car. Don´t worry Scouser, sleep tight :-)
  3. Hmm I must say I still don´t get it. Unless you are planning on keeping it as a collector item for many many years, but for that there are build way to many 996 models. Anyway I like the fact that I have an allmost new engine in the car even it has run 80.000 km.
  4. Why HATE that you have a replaced engine ??? A replaced engine includes almost everything, It is not like on other cars where they only change parts of the engine and then call it a new or replaced engine. My car had a new engine because because of a suddenly main seal leak which blew the engine. :drive: Anyway I drive around in a 80.000 km car with a 40.000 km engine now. I look at it this way. I just got 40.000 km for free. Don´t be sade about the replaced engine, some Porsche people even says they are much better compared to the "normal" engine because they are sampled on Porsches engeniring place ;)
  5. It is not often it happens that nobody on Renntech can help......but is this really the case here ? :-) I thought it was an easy question. Will give it a few more days.
  6. Hey Richard. I can´t really remember if it is the 009 or 010 wire connector that goes into the motronic plug. The difference between the 2 are very small and the only way to find out will be to try. Probably both will fit, but 1 of them will slide easy into the plug. ( I think I payed 6 USD. for 10 ) Both the 009 and 010 are female connectors. When you buy them they are fitted with a piece of wire between, cut the wires in half and insert a wire in the correct length.
  7. Are there other TSB´s for Europe about the PCM software. I am looking for some info that came out about a new and maby last update for the PCM 1. There was something about a new cd reader also on the same info. And also where do I find out what releases that have been made for the PCM software in europe ? Hope someone can help me. :help:
  8. 1) You don´t do anything, The clutch control switch is there. (should be :jump: ) 2) The connector you buy is only the connector alone, you will need to sample the connector with the wires you also buy  and then run those wires to the Motronic unit. At the Motronic unit there are several connectors, You take connector IV and mount the ekstra wires in that connector. Then the PST2 activation and :drive: If you don´t have OBD display allready it is the perfect time to do this hack also. I have done both at the same time on my car. Good luck :clapping:

  10. Welcome. There is a great car wainting for you. Plus great help in here.
  11. Glue...... :-) :jump: No, I don´t think there is much you can do. Maby attach a new piece of velcro.
  12. Yep. I know for sure that the database in Denmark with the most updated version of PCM 1 8 bit system (2001) is VERY VERY BAD. But then again 1700 Euro is also some kind of money. Let me know what you decide.
  13. Yes, the 16 Bit PCM 1 version is more powerfull and is updated with the newest roads and stuff. If the map on your 8 bit system works good enough and is okay updated I would keep it. Elsewhere it is a waste of money. PS. The price in Europe is around 1700 Euro that includes a new 16 Bit CD-reader and calculator plus hole Europe nav cd´s
  14. Try to select them and see !!! It should be easy to see if it is 2 different locations.
  15. There is a hack you can do, so you have daytime running light. As far as I remember you just connect 2 fuses. Which ones I don´t remember, I am at work right now so I will have to look into this tomorrow when I get home.
  16. It is quite importent that the paint hardens / cure up, my guess would be that it takes up to 4 weeks before that happens (depending on temperature). In the meantime it will be soft and very sensitive for stone chips.
  17. Okay, I will try to be serious. But it was and still is a little bit funny ;) There are plenty of protection films out there, but some of them can be quite difficult to get off again and other very expensive. When the Porsche shop gets a new car from Porsche they are delivered in some kind of white plastic. What about trying to give them a call and see if you can get one, they usually throw them away.
  18. Welcome to Renntech......You will find this site GGRREEAATTTT :-)
  19. Well if you don´t select a street, it will just guide you to a fixed city center position. About the A-496 I am not sure, but my guess would be that it is some kind of road or intersection. what happens if you press okay to them ? any difference ?
  20. Just to make absolutly sure......the battary is 100 % charged and okay. What you describe is exactly how a partly dead battary would do. There is a current distribution point where there is some current limiter fuses. I would check those one, the only problem is that I am not 100 % sure where to find them. Anyway the relay for the starter seems to be build in together with the starter motor itself. Please check fuse C2 and C3. Was the key turned at all, when you connected the power cables wrong ?
  21. Okay, lets try to help here.... If you did not turn the key, then the starter motor itself can not be damaged. You say that everything seems to work now. Can you describe what happens when you try to start it now, any sounds from relays, bat level ?
  22. Everything is possible..BUT, to add PSM to the car looks to me like something that would take days. There is a lot of electrical wiring to run, plus hydraulic setup.
  23. With the CDR-220 you will need a DSP amp and the control unit M680-662. I am not sure if the amp and control unit is build in together...Tool Pants will know. Anyway, if not build together, you will have to run quite a lot of wires. especially if you don´t have 6 speakers and thereby then the M490 amp (soundpacket) But it can be done. To add PCM1 and then DSP would also be possible......but then there is a lot of wiring to be done. Another guy on Renntech is working on adding PCM1.
