  1. Well I'm a first time Porsche owner. I have had my 997S for about a year now and I'm ashamed to say that I don't really have the habit of waving. I used to exchange some waves and smiles here and there when I drove a Mini but I guess I stopped because as is, I get some "what the hell are you doing in that car" looks from some older Porsche drivers... Maybe its all in my head, or maybe I feel a bit guilty that I can afford a car like this while most people my age can't. I don't know... I can say that I did exchange a node with another Porsche owner once. And it was rather nice. But for the most part, I, like most Miami drivers (the rudest drivers in the U.S.) keep to myself. This thread has been quite enlightening and I will definitely try to develop the wave habit regardless of the looks I get back... And why not start now... <waves> thanks,
  2. After reading the above and some other comments, I'm pretty much sold on the AWE exhaust but today I stopped at my local dealer (The Collection) where they also do some aftermarket bold on work (and more importantly wont give me any crap about warranty because they sold me the parts and did the work) and they recommended Tubi. How do you guys feel about Tubi? Regardless of which exhaust, I happen to like the Fabspeed tips, would that be a problem with either of the AWE or the Tubi exhausts?
  3. Good question, I can't find anything either. Do you have any Idea what the Fabspeed sounds like? Fabspeed has video links with sound for there different exhaust systems... http://www.fabspeed.com/997_997S_997GT3.html The only other aftermarket company that I have found is AWE-Tuning.... They also have a sound bite of what there exhaust sounds like. http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/multimedia...tem%20HiRes.wmv
  4. Yes, you can switch back and forth between iPod control mode and PCM control mode using a menu option on the PCM. I prefer PCM mode because I have my iPod stored in the front trunk where the CD changer normally would go. :) thnak you...! so when is teh group buy..?
  5. Q: If you want to, can you also select songs directly from the iPod...? I know it defeats the purpose of the gateway but just a curiosity....
  6. I have a 06 997S cab.. I installed the "Smarttop" kit and it works excellent... worth the $$
  7. according to the "nav-tv" site (http://www.nav-tv.com), they only have a kit available for 2004 + Cayenne. I don't know if they will have one for the 997's...
  8. Ok, I received a response from Dension. "Hello, it will definitely work, but we will relies the Gateway 500 for Porsche cars in Q4. Now we are working on it is so I can not tell you the exact date. Check our website! Regards, Dension Support" Well it looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel..!
  9. I think that they are going to make the same mistake as before... Its going to make the 997 look like a Boxster / Cayman with that front...
  10. I'm not 100% sure but I think I found something that would work.. According to the Dension site, there ice>Link Gateway 500 should be our answer in integrating an iPod. Unfortunately there product compatibility chart is extremely vague. In hopes to have an absolute answer to this torture, I have sent them an e-mail to confirm compatibility with the PCM head units. http://www.dension.com/icelinkgateway500.php At worst, they offer a hard wired FM Modulator (ice>Link FM). Basically it connects directly to the radio antenna. That type of connection works very well as it will not get the static / connection loss like the iTrip and others of the kind... http://www.dension.com/icelinkfm.php
  11. :help: I'm looking to tint my front windshield on my 997 CS2 but before I can have the work done I need to remove the rearview mirror so the tint can be applied. My instinct is to just take a screwdriver to it but I'm afraid that I'll just damage the plastic cover. If anyone has instructions it would be greatly appreciated. :D
  12. I also have an Atlas Gray Metallic C2S so water marks show externally easily.. I do a few things to dry the car properly. 1) I use the Mr. Clean Spot free system to rinse the car. Although you are supposed to just rinse & let the car air dry, that does not work that well so I still hand dry the car. But the benefit to using it is that if you do miss an area it wont leave a water mark 2) for the rear light I slide in the edge of the towel between the bottom of the tail light and the bumper & let it suck up the excess water. 3) for the wheels I give it a quick dry Then I move the car a couple of feet to make sure that any extra water collected on the brakes drains out. Then I dry them properly. Because of the wheel that I have on the car (Avus) water still collect in the center of the wheel. To clean that up, I just place a shop towel at the bottom of the wheel & let it soak up any excess water while I finish drying the rest of the car. It's a bit tedious but once you get the hang of it it only adds a few extra minutes to my wash time...
