  1. You have to find someone with a durametric tool or goto the dealer to have that airbag light turned off... OBDII scanners cannot do this.
  2. Good stuff John Jones. Do you know weather the test procedure works for a 99 or older boxster? I used to only pull P0410 but now i get both codes P1411 and would like to try this myself.
  3. You may want not want to DIY repair this one, might cost you more money than if you had a shop do it... Take it to an auto electric shop. Have them tell you what the issue is, and then go buy it and install it yourself.
  4. You should note that this update is for e-gas boxsters only. Not the older boxsters that dont have E-gas.
  5. I dont know if the bulb frame on a 986 and 966 are similar but if they are, i had the same issue, its the metal contacts being pulled out of the plastic frame due to the tension from the bulb contact that pushes the bulb upwards, I had to zip tie the metal contacts against the plastic frame to keep them from raising out. Now the one bulb that would turn off, never turns off.
  6. Ok, In late Feb I purchased a Front & Rear set of Zimmerman Cross-Drilled & Slotted rotors from ebay. About 3 weeks ago I noticed a tad bit of wobble under braking and 1 week ago it had gotten alot worse and more obvious that the rotors were the cause of the wobble. Now they wobble like a mofo when braking at speeds higher than 60mph. Emailed the Seller and told him if they can replace them, since i see a similar auction on ebay for the same rotors but with a 6 month warranty. They replied with "rotors come with 30 day warranty". So that avenue is no good for me. Rather than Replace the rotors all over again, Is there anyway I can have them cut/straightened? I heard that not all Rotor cutting machines can do Cross-Drilled/Slotted rotors but some can... Is this true? if so, where might I find a shop with this type of machine in the Los Angeles area? Any advise or ideas welcome.
  7. I would with little as 20k on the clutch.
  8. Although the Climate control is not on auto, it will not blow warm air into your face or upper body from the center and side vents cause the water temp hasnt risen high enough to heat the heater-core enough to blow air that is warmer than what is displayed on the climate control display, yet. Does it eventually come out the upper vents once you've been on your way awhile? if so, its normal. I like it, Its better than getting in your car on a cold morning and the vents blasting you with cold air until the air gradually warms.
  9. Have you tried looking through ALL your fuses yet? If not, do that first.
  10. Currently Im talking to a Custom plastic mold injection company about taking my current amber headlight lens cover and creating a completely clear mold of it... Ill update you on the talks I have with them, Currently im waiting for a call back by the Automotive department of the company, and should be able to get a sample made by them. They normally shy away from clear plastics because they dont always come out 100% clear but I mentioned that I could buff and polish the surface, I just cannot have bubbles or creases inpregnated into the plastic... Ok keep you posted. FYI minimum order might have to be 1000 units to make an order :-0
  11. LOL thats where i got the Idea from, my buddys RSX type S has red lit interior and i love it.
  12. It depends on the size and quantity of peices that fell into your valve cover. They could clog your oil gallerys that lead back to the oil pan but if you have maybe 1 large peice that snapped off on one side, you might be ok with leaving it because the heads have more than 1 oil gallery to send oil back to the oil pan. They likely wouldnt clog up your oil pump pick-ups since its opening is rather wide. You can attempt to remove the valve cover and oil pan to remove the peices that way you have peice of mind.
  13. They dont come off, they look like they do but they dont, they are one with the cluster, but they have a 1 millimeter cut-out trim around each ring that give the illusion that they are, but they arent, i painted mine also and had to mask everything off, even the plastic lense which is difficult cause any wrinkle in the tape where the ring meets the lense and you might get paint on the lense
  14. Your right, it would look better than amber but the one thing that may anoy you is the contrast, i speak from experience when it comes to that. I had a 2nd Gen 4G63 and it came with white Indiglo Gauges and on trips longer than 3 minutes at nite on the freeway, they began to hurt or bother my eyes.
  15. LOL Midnite blue! The interior also in midnite blue but im starting to not like the subtle & Purplish look of the interior so im thinking of repainting it silver. I need some flashiness to make the interior stand out abit more.
  16. I would only do it if i can change the LED's into Medium Red rather than "Rice-Rocket Honda Civic Indiglow Gauge Blue".... Yes thats a color, found it in a box of Crayola's :D
  17. Bisimoto Engineering in Chino Hills california recently ran a dyno test on there boxster with and without the Snorkel and they came up with a 5hp gain without the snorkel... I should have asked them to run a stock filter versus a K&N or Evo.
  18. The vendor that sold them to me has them for sale now to the public. http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11446
  19. Had the same issue in my boxster so if the c2 clutch pedal assem is anyway similar, You can take care of this with some grease, Just get on your back and under your dash, with a flashlight... Look at the clutch pedal assembly and you will see something that looks like a spring that fits into a sleeve, Thats where my squeak came from, the spring was scuffing the sleeve that shrouds the spring evertime i pressed the clutch pedal down, Just try coating the spring in grease and press the pedal down with your arm while your down there until the squeak is gone, apply more grease as needed.
  20. Does the TSB say that the grounds have to be changed, relocated, cleaned or tightened?
  21. What causes the seat belt to fail like this? is it the connections at the blue plastic end or internally within the housing of the recepticle?
  22. What is the most updated seat belt recepticle part number for 1997 boxster? Im pulling a code 41(driverside seat belt unplugged) error, tried cleaning and the airbag light stayed off for 3 hours then came back. Need some guidence with this issue.
  23. I've been getting a CEL with code P1411 Secondary Air Injection Signal Implausable cyclindars 4-6 about once every month and Yesterday I was removing the idle control valve from the throttle body for a quick cleaning which required I remove the Plastic Tube that connects the AOS and the throttle body.... Noticed oil in the hose and at the top of the AOS... I assume that means the AOS has stopped working correctly but my question is Would a bad AOS cause a P1411 CEL?
  24. I did this last week, It hilarious the amount of debris pour out of the scoop and between the condensor and radiator, Enough from each side to fill a dust pan if they have never been cleaned. Makes a huge difference. Search this forum for a link to directions with pictures... I do know the bumper, scoops and ac condensor are held in by only a phillips screws, t25 torqs screws and plastic clips.
