  1. then its a mystery why my headlights move up and down every once in awhile.
  2. Well thats weird cause they moved up and down the first & second time i turned on the low beam's after installing the control box, then once more when i went to move my car outside. I turned on the ignition and then the low beams and they moved up and down, then started the car and they moved up and down once more once the engine turned on but hasnt moved since yesterday.. Oh another weird thing i noticed on my 1997 boxster when running the wires from the harness to the drivers side headlight, I did not have to drill a hole like the directions say to because i had a hole with a plug in it just like the passenger side fender had. Does that mean my boxster was meant to have factory litronics? What should i look for to tell if i had litronics before i owned the car in the past?
  3. k installed the control unit and the low beams moved up and down the first two times I turned the lows on but not anymore. However the lows move up when I turn on the high beams. Are the lows suppose to move up and down every time i turn on the low beams?
  4. I wonder how much louder or cooler the intake noise would sound with that muffler removed and the hole plugged with my desnorkeled boxster... Ill try to find a plug solution and let you all know someday.
  5. My litronics came with this Wire harness along with the control box. Does that mean the directions should be different for me than everybody else? Part number for the harness i have is 996.612.988.00
  6. Can someone give me a link to a write-up for installing the control box for the 1997 boxster please?
  7. Thanks Maurice, As for the Sig image, im waiting on a photoshop pro that i know from another forum that is really good at making sigs to make one for me.
  8. No I do not mind you asking. "why did you get this done" - My headlights & side markers were stolen holloween nite and in the process they damaged the bumper, fenders and hood so the insurance repainted all those parts. "did you recover with Clear Bra/3M protector" - Not yet but that will be happening in the next few weeks. "how much just for the sanding/prep and paint work for your car?" - Lets see, Insurance cut a check for $3600 and subtract $1567 for the headlights, it cost about $2033 to repaint the front fenders, hood and bumper. "How did your paint color match up" - As far as color its perfect, but the condition obviously of the front end is far better looking than the rest of the car. I had the boxster repainted some months ago so its not that huge of a difference, just slight difference... alittle swirl marks here and there on the non-repainted surfaces from the doors, back.
  9. Finally got my Boxster back from the paint shop, Its got a freshly painted front end and new clear corners and litronics headlights to replace my amber halogens.
  10. If i do have a leak there... does that mean i would have to replace th rack?
  11. Today when i picked my boxster up from the bodyshop, the power steering pump was squeling so i put it into service mode and filled her back up and that cured the squel, but my problem is that the fluid ran low about 1.5 months prior to it happening again today. What are some common area of leakage on the boxsters power steering system? Thanks in Advance! :renntech:
  12. Ah, so its only if i want to use high-beams??? Tell me what i can and cant do with and without the control box please, lay it all out for me. Pretty much what I already said. The control boxes rotate the low beam Xenons up to add light to the high beam Halogens. You get added light/distance with the high beams. The control boxes are not used for anything else that I am aware of. Thanks Loren, I like the idea of that, Ill install that control box, cause I do drive up into Palm Springs on the 10 and high beams are needed on certain parts between the mountain or hills.
  13. Trust me, as cool as it seems... It always sucks bad the first day you see your car raped no matter how much you will benifit from it. hahahaha
  14. In the street, If they are stolen. Theres nothing i can do about it except have my insurance cover it. With progressive, theres 0 liability for me so my rates wont increase at all.
  15. I have Progressive, They do give you the check but they try to get you to except a check before having a shop look at it and tried to scare me into doing that by saying, OH the shop may remove the bumper and you'll have to install it if you decide not to go with them!!!! i said i dont care cause i can install it. They ended up giving the check to the paint shop anyway and i just called them and told them to give me the headlights portion so i can get them myself.
  16. Ah, so its only if i want to use high-beams??? Tell me what i can and cant do with and without the control box please, lay it all out for me.
  17. Yup, they gave me 1574 for the headlights, i think they left out a check for the corner triangle, ill have to call them and check.
  18. Thanks for your help guys, I bought a set of Litronics from a craigslist ad and picked them up myself, nice guy too. They came with the self leveling control box and the wire harness to hook it up. I should have my car back from the paintshop friday! :renntech: Heres a picture of one of the headlights.
  19. Thanks Maurice thats good enough, ill probably add .2 or .5 to the length since the wheels sit flat on the alignment machine, Thanks for ur help!!!!
  20. I just talked to the adjuster on the phone and he recommended what you just said, to take it to a shop i want or one they have on a list and let them estimate it and then go from there.
  21. Thanks for the advise rssfeller and fastboydave, I wonder if they will replace the bumper rather than repair cause its pretty much got 2 holes in it, not just scratches
  22. Rant time for me, So i wake up this morning, feeling tired. Walk to my car at 545am that i had to park 1 block away from my apt cause the street was full of parked cars on my block. Drive to work and dont notice anything out of the ordinary UNTIL i pull into the underground parking garage at work and notice that i do not see my headlights against the walls or floor. I think to myself "GREAT! **** headlight switch is fried" so i park in a space and start to turn the headlight switch on and off rapidly to see if i can get the lamps on at all, and it didnt work.... So i get out and im already thinking about what terms i should use in my search for headlight switch replacement on 986forum.com but then i notice something... my sidemarker is missing and the wire and bulb are dangling then i walk to the front of the car and notice both of my headlights are stolen !and! the edge of the hood, front bumper and fender are scratched! That is the moment i realized my headlight were stolen today... WTF!!!!! why would someone one yellow egg yolk headlights! venting... venting... venting... I called my insurance claims department to notify them, I have full coverage Progressive Insurance with $250 deductible, does anyone know what i am to expect from the Porgressive as far as repair and or compensation? For instance, will they buy me NEW headlights or try to locate some cheap used ones from a salvage yard? As far as my paint damage, should i expect them to repaint the entire panel due to the scratches on the hood fenders and bumper or will they want to patch paint it?
  23. Carlos: Just measured 61.3 cm from center of bolt to center of nut. Same on left and right. Mine's a 1997 Boxster, all stock. Regards, Maurice. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You dont know how much this helps me! BTY when you measured, was the car jacked up from the side with the rear wheel in the air or were the wheels on the ground when you measured? Reason i ask is cause the pivoting action of the arm could mean that if you measured while the wheel was suspended in the air, the distance of 61.3 cm will increase maybe .2 or .7 more cm from when wheel is on the ground cause the bear cartridge will pivot away slightly from the rear bolt when grounded.
  24. Yeah i noticed that too, That picture in the write-up was taken before i even took a wrench to it so thats the way it was installed by the factory, i think cause theres no room for a bolt that long to go in from the top, i think the diagram is mistaken.
