  1. My issue went to the shop, turned out that my convirtible top latch had over time kinked the wire near the dome lights. It then shorted the + and - causing the fuse to blow. The alarm connection was blown to the windows, thus they wouldnt go down and caused the double beep. the top continued to work, because the top moter wires arnt anywhere near there. To check this, take off your trim piece. it requires a phillips scre driver and 10 mins. Take off thew sun visors, take off the corner screws, the whole thing accross the top comes down. Look at your wires!
  2. SOOO, after hours of messing around with this thing, I still dont have a properly working radio. Using the PAC adapter to hook up the stock amp, I have a high pitched whine. Its not a ground problem, ive already run through all that... any ideas?
  3. ISSUE MAYBE! I didnt find the alarm wire for the radio hookup that everyone (including crutchfield) said should be there? was yours there?
  4. Oh man! That burns. I am doing a lot of work on the car tommorrow. I am purring in the mesh grills in the front and painting the brakes red. I also going to see how much I can get done on the subwofer Im curious to see what you do with the sub - im not that much into bass anymore, but I just may do it anyway, cause ive always had it! good luck this weekend!
  5. OK So Ive hit my snag too... Bought the kenwood MP532U w/Ipod adapter... Its not a HD radio, its HD radio ready. Now i need to spend another 200 on the tuner, whoops i missed that one!
  6. I choose the Kenwood KDC-MP4032 because I can plug my mp3 player into it, it has a sub out and a great signal to noise ratio, lastly if I want Sat. Radio I can do that to. I have had JVC's, Alpines, you name it, and Kenwoods have always been good to me. Lastly, Alpine tends to be a bit deep, and as we all know space is limted. Here is an update I am attempting to install the sub volume control to the cig ligter, I'll let you know how that works out! Pics to come soon. Ok, So I hit my first snag. I bought the Infinity Basslink 10" sub, with a built in amp; "they" say it's takes up 1 cubic foot. My thought was to put it deep into the passanger footwell. Then build a false floor around it. I was very wrong. It did not come close to fitting! :censored: So now at a crossroads, I can either put in Focal subs ( very shallow) in the storage box or just buy the Kenwood Slim sub woofer and throw it behind the passanager seat. I have seen that done before. Any thoughts? Yupp - I had a basslink in my lotus, passenger footwell, didnt fit. Use the Sub and amp, but custom a box for it, make sure you have 1cu foot of airspace behind it. The box doesnt need to be square so get funky with it. I know this sounds silly, but get a card borad box and shove it in the foot well to make what you think looks ok, measure it out, calculate the free space. 1cu foot is NOT alot of air space, thats why the basslink works so well. OR Return that thing, buy an 10" free air sub, make a plaque for it, shove it in, make nice with carpet. OR This is not tried and tested, i have to look at my car to see if it feesible... 2x8" woofers in the center consol. Stop laughing... in my Camaro before I got smart I used to try STUPID things, I put the 2 tiny woofers (you could probably use a 6 1/2 round even) on the inside of the foot well, magnets in the center consol - behind everything. Now we dont have alot of room in our cars, and as i said, i havent looked to see if it possible, but Id check that out too... not going to give the same bass as the basslink or anyother 10"er but with the top down your not going to feel much either.... Hope this helps, or at least got a good laugh out of my youth and dumb ideas
  7. What Kenwood deck are you putting in? Im planning on buying a new head unit this weekend. Kenwood has always been a friend to me in all my cars so far... except the Merisati. (87 Maserati Bi-turbo - loved to hate that car...) Anyway... Im looking at different Alpines this time around, and a couple of kenwoods, Im curious to know which ones you loked at and eventually decided on. Sean and his 00 Boxster
  8. whatever you do DO NOT put old pads on new rotors. wait till you have allt he parts first!
  9. Im looking to replace the becker 220 in my 00 boxster. anything funny i need to watch for, or can I basicly take it out and clip in the new unit and have everything work fine? Thanks! Sean and His 00 Boxster
  10. http://fixrim.com/loc.htm they have a location in LA
  11. Got in the car, put down the windows.... let the heat out (its been over 100 on Long Island these past few days), rolled the windows back up when the AC started to run. 5 mins down the road went to roll the window down at a FF joint, it doesnt work!!! Turned car off, tried to lock (my intention was re-set the alarm) I got the double beep, and it didnt lock my doors. Checked fuses, one was blown, replaced, it blew again immediatly. Disconnected the battery and replaced. when i connected the battary again, it blew. Now my windows dont go down and I have no radio, cause i dont know the code. Issue 1 - most important - whats wrong with my fuse block - does anyone have a wiring diagram, or ahd this happen to them? Issue 2 - how can i retrieve the code to the radio? Thanks All!
