  1. I have a non-Litronic light system in my 987, the headlights are on when the car is running due to DRL. My question is for any Canadian Porsche owner with factory Litronic headlights, are they on when your car is running (regardless of the headlight switch position)?
  2. 987 Boxster S Silver Badge Emblem, part number for just the 'S'?
  3. Very nice, I especially like the look of the ceramic brakes on the black car. The only other thing I would do on that car would be to change out the front side markers for European spec clear's... Otherwise perfect!
  4. Well, I talked to the dealer yesterday about the DRL's. I asked if it was normal for all lights to be on for my 2006, he said the Canadian model comes from Germany with the headlights, fogs, markers and tailights on when the car is running, basically everything. He also said that they didn't know if there was a way to turn off the headlights while the car was running. I asked if modifying the lights with an aftermarket HID kit would void the warranty, he replied that if there was a problem on the car with an unrelated system then there should be no issue, however (as expected) if there is a problem with the headlights then I would be on my own. But, if I choose a factory Litronic kit and they did the install it would come with a 2 year warranty. From all of this I think that the only option remaining for non factory HID's is connecting directly to the battery through relays...
  5. Seems to be a common story, even up here in Canada they said the same thing to me when I wanted a copy of the previous history on a 2003 Boxster I bought. The dealer agreed in the end to provide copies of all paperwork that did not have the previous owners name. In your case the Momentum Porsche of Houston should be able to print out a history of the work performed that does not have the previous owners name on it. Just tell them you don't care to see the person's name just the work performed...
  6. Not likely a Canadian spec car then, ours normally have the headlights on for DRL. I don't have my 2003 anymore but I'm sure that just like my 2006, the headlights are on when the engine is on for a Canadian car. I would look around the car for a hack...
  7. So is only the fog lights on or both the fogs and the headlights?
  8. As mentioned, water spots are the result of material left behind after the water dries. From you post I didn't get a sense of what you were trying to do, prevent them or remove existing ones? 1) Anyway, to prevent them, either use purified or filtered water or dry the car after washing. 2a) To remove eisting spots, your first effort is with detailing clay which will get most of the spots... 2b) Follow this with by polishing with a random action orbital polisher with a very mild abrasive and you should get the rest. Now that you are spot free, see # 1 above!
  9. This is the kind that has the sliding doors in the middle and pairs of speakers on the left and right side. Will one from the 986 fit a 987? Thanks
  10. ahhh yes, the legality of it all, another aspect to be concerned with to be sure! Too late tonight to flash up the car, but I thought that I remembered that the fog/driving lights were on during the day anyway? BTW, my old RX-7 used the driving lights as the DRL's as it had pop up lights. and Maybe the best option other then abandoning the project would be to use relays triggered by the headlamps connections to drive the HID ballasts? The Bi-Xenon equiped Canadian cars run their HID's during the day.
  11. Ok, I don't seem to be getting to far with all of this. I am beginning to think that the DIY HID kit was a bad idea! I would like to know how to disable the DRL circuit on a Canadian 987? Or at least where the DRL relay is? Thanks
  12. I have an 06 and was thinking of the same thing, which inline FM modulator were you thinking of using?
  13. So no one can tell me where to find the DRL relay on a 987?
  14. Thats what I am starting to feel like... "Illustranted" !!! I am so surprised that since the 987 introduction in Canada, that I am the only one running into this problem? No reply as to where to find the DRL relay in the 987 either, I'm bummed out! Looks like another idea before it's time, money poorly spent too, I hope CQ gets back to me soon.
  15. I'm re-painting my calikpers with orignal color they started to fade and the clear coat from what I can tell is bubbling. Where do I get the "porsche" decal? Or is it a stamp lettering? Ben I got mine from here, Rich has great products and the service is tops! http://www.xenonmods.com/
  16. I had a RX-7 in a deep blue pearl (Brave Blue Mica) and did the calipers in yellow, personally I liked it, besides Porsche themselves use yellow for the ceramic brake system...
  17. From what you have said about the 'other' colours, I would say the same colour as your car. Get and autobody supply shop to mix up an aerosol can of enamel to match, let dry apply white decals and your finished.
  18. Well an update from CQ Light, a little insight but not quite enough to get going yet... They said "disable the DRL" but could not say how... They said 'turn on your lights", this is the first thing I tried, and strangely it had no effect! I would have thought that turning on the lights would have supplied full power to the HID ballast. Anybody know why this is not the case? They said " install the optional harness", this powers the kit through a relay directly from the battery... investigating Here is a picture of the optional relay harness:
  19. You didn't say if you really wanted to spend that much to repair the car, so have you considered an engine from a wrecker? Just curious how this level of repair compares with other less expensive cars? (you may have noticed that I am not used to this level of repair, read expensive)
  20. Actually I too asked the question, what I said was I found the relay listed in the diagrams and was asking if this was all that was required to remove the DRL on a 986 or a 987. From what I was reading it was suggested that one only needed to add the relay to activate the DRL's. I saw a picture posted by Tool Pants that showed the relay support/carrier but I could not tell where in the car this was found? Still no reply from CQ Light about this either...
  21. Not jumping in ahead of Jim (I still want his thoughts as well), but I found this today... I am having trouble with them in my 2006.
  22. Great write-up, a few questions if you have the info: 1) What is the torque specifications for each of the bolts? 2) Why do you need to disconnect the battery? 3) What is the "fabric protector & cleaner" for? BTW, they look great!
  23. I would like to know where this relay is located, also if it can just be removed to deactivate DRL on Canadian cars? On a 986 I found it on sheet 21 for the Relay Support/Carrier assignment, but I don't have these diagrams for the 987... Reason, I have a HID kit and it would seem that this circuit affect the HID ballast due to it's reduced current... I was hoping to try the removal as a fix to make the HID work.
