  1. This link will show you more of the weak parts around the cam chain. http://www.lnengineering.com/chaintensioner.html You should phone this company for advice. Paul
  2. Remove the plastic shroulds from the speaker box holes. You will then see the torq screws that hold the box in. Paul
  3. All I could find was instructions on how to remove the seats. I think that the seats are third party supplied and there are no instructions to repair them. Paul
  4. Here is the race setup. http://www.jrzsuspension.com/index.php?club_application Even the softest JRZ shock is like a truck shock. Going this route will require you to disconnect the electronic suspension part of the computer. Any dealer will be able to turn off the suspension handling package. Also going this route will require more items. Stronger engine and transmission mounts and bushings. Stronger suspension arms. More racing parts. Paul
  5. Here is the expensive kit. http://www.automotion.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=P915883&dept%5Fid=4994# Paul
  6. Here is how you look up vin number stuff. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?app=content&do=vin_decoder Paul
  7. I think the vin number is the engine number. Here is a thread on the vin sequence. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/33534-vin-sequence/page__p__177906__hl__vin%20number__fromsearch__1entry177906 The engine number is somewhere on the bottom of the engine. Paul
  8. They just stick to the metal. You peal off the tape backing and stick them on to the car. I often wonder why people don't stick 4S on there regular car. Paul
  9. The 997 S sport shocks have sensors to run at a certain height. You can lower the car with some other springs. This will cause the computer to try to raise the car when it is driven. Over time, the shock will blow out because it is always on. The better option is to buy new shocks and springs that are set for a lowered car. Yes this costs more money but you will not blow out your shock. Paul
  10. Ken, I only have a H&M rear sway bar. I have a picture at turn 8 at Sears that shows the right front wheel up in a turn without the swaybar. The rear sway bar will tighten things up and should be able to help keep the fronts on the ground. I did not install a front sway bar because you need to remove the radiator hoses to get to the front sway bar mounts. The difficult part is sucking the air out of the hoses before you refill them. The rear sway bar is easy to install and it worked for me. Paul
  11. I bought an H&R rear sway bar and shaved off 5 seconds at Thunderhill Raceway. Here is the H&R site. http://www.hrsprings.com/products/sway-bars/ I found a local dealer and I think this is his site. http://www.livermoreperformance.com/porsche_arb.html I bought some drop links for $275. Here is a site with drop links for $202. http://www.automotion.com Do get some new drop links because the stock ones look like they will not do the job. Have fun and good luck. The H&R rear sway bar and the alignment for track use made the track so much more fun. Paul
  12. You have to remove the radiator hoses to get to the bolts that hold the sway bar onto the frame. A racing mechanic told me that he hates doing this. Paul
  13. I have a TPC supercharger off a 2006 997 that I will be selling soon. I know I am not to post prices but it will be about 1/4 the new costs. Paul
  14. This should get you started. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/3770-brake-pad-and-rotor-wear-meaurements/page__p__18082entry18082 Paul
  15. I had a new radiator intalled. The mechanic puts some thing on that sucks alot of the air out and colapses the hoses. He then fills it up. He said that it is difficult to get it filled. Paul
  16. I put one front in the trunk. I put one rear in the back behind the pasenger seat standing up. I then put one rear and one front on the passenger seat. I only had to drive about two blocks. I did this with wheels only. I think it would be alot more dificult with tires on the wheel. Also, the one in the front trunk needs a little force to close the trunk. Paul
  17. Looks like you would need a rear window sealing frame. Here is a picture. Any auto glass store should be able to answer your question. Paul
  18. If you go to the 996 site, you will see that alot of guys have replaced the coolent plastic tank. Hope this helps. Paul
  19. i have an 06 carrera S, if i get these lights will i need to change bumper and everything else or this is just plug-n-play I would read all the posts again. I think you need a control unit. This is alot of money for lights. Paul
  20. I always fill mine up on highest settings of the fuel nozzel. It dumps about 14 gallons into a 16 gallon tank. I am not worried about a .1 of a gallon. Paul
  21. You might want to ask this guy directions also. I do not think that air would mix with fuel. Paul
  22. It must be the way you put the hose in. Shove the hose in all the way. Push handle down and release slowly. Then start fuel flowing. I do not think you are getting the hose in far enough. Paul
  23. The story I hear from the racing mechanics is it is a real pain. You need to remove the radiator hoses to get to the bolts that hold the sway bar to the frame. Then you put the radiator hoses under a negative pressure before you fill it. It is real hard to get the air out of the radiator hoses. Paul
