  1. you should be more than satisfied with eric's products if you have a problem, let him know, and he will take care of it a body shop will paint it like they would any plastic eric uses some type of multi step process that makes it come out like OEM he's been online for years and supports many forums and events aloha steve Here is my break down from bumper plugs, do remember these are arriving painted, but man it's taking forever. Side Vents, no core, $279 Vent Frames, $75 Door Plug, $13.95 Clear Sidemarkers for 987, $32 Shipping estimate: $11 More than double the price, even painted seems a bit high. I've said before I'll reserve judgement until they arrive. I don't mind a premium price, as long as it's a premium product.
  2. do a google search for hunter 9700, this machine is considered the best for balancing newer models have something called "road force balancing" that is supposed to be even better than the standard 9700 the hunter website has a search function to find the shop nearest you aloha steve
  3. double click the key fob, and then you should get a double horn beep to indicate the alarm is armed, but the interior sensors are off i get the alarm going off frequently when i use the dashboard sun visor, so i have to do the double click method or you may have rodents/bugs in your car :) aloha steve
  4. there are quite a few from the atlanta area on www.ppbb.com you could also try there aloha steve
  5. kumho ast's are DEFINETELY not OEM archive searches on this site, babblers.org, or ppbb.com should show lots of comparisons between all the different tire choices my preference when it comes to replace my tires will be with my stock michelin ps ii's or the previously mentioned goodyear f1-gs-d3 aloha steve
  6. someone on the boxster board (www.ppbb.com) posted today that porsche is offering the caynenne kit for other cars now 8 hours book time for install! aloha steve
  7. i had this problem on my 2002 boxster s and my 2004 550SE it occurs when i have the car parked with the dashboard sun shield up i have to do the double click alarm and get the beep, and my car's interior sensor is turned off aloha steve
  8. wow, i cannot believe someone would do that to a brand new car :) aloha steve
  9. remanufactured engines are not made from blown up engines after the engines are built at stuttgart, they are placed on a dyno for a half hour or so they are required to be within 2-3% of stated output by german law the ones that don't pass are taken to a separate line where they are adjusted by special techs that we were told can usually tell what the problem is by looking at the dyno chart aloha steve
  10. it's about the slope of the curve, not a difference at WOT a given amount of throttle on a non-sport chrono car is different from a sport chrono car it's a rate of change thing (that's what i think is lame- why can't we step on the pedal harder for free?) i forgot about the lower PSM threshold- this makes a difference and is not lame less intervention of PSM means greater slip angles and more fun :) aloha steve so pardon me for being a neophite, but on the 987/S, doesn't WOT=WOT or 100% engaged regardless of whether or not you have a clock on the dashboard or not? In other words, when I mash on the go pedal in a car w/ sports chrono vs a car without, I wouldn't expect a difference as my right foot would be firmly planted in the 100% position ... ?? The PSM intervention is fully understood and can sort of see the benefit if you are tracking the car. Also if this is an option without the clock on the dash, would it stand to reason that one could simply have this added after the fact, as it appears that most of the functionality appears to be engaged from a stalk off of the steering wheel anyway? So many questions ... Thanks again, Matt
  11. the gas peda-to-throttle linkage is no longer mechanical, it is electrical (aka "egas") the sport chrono option remaps the response curve of the pedal to throttle ratio meaning it makes more change in the increase of the throttle as you press down the pedal a given amount yes it's lame:) aloha steve
  12. 4th picture- bi-xenons :) aloha steve
  13. congrats! i can help you with a couple of answers, others will chime in over the next day or 2 to answer all your questions you have a becker cdr 220 stereo you can buy a plug for the cd changer input so you can use it as an aux-in for your iPod start your search here http://members4.boardhost.com/beckerboard/ and here http://www.beckerautosound.com/ lloyd's mats are considered to be better than OEM (in fact they usedto be OEM) an internet search should turn up lots of sources they are porsche authorized to use porsche fonts and trademarks for embroidery aloha steve
  14. second one is the attachment for the child seat aloha steve
  15. i am pretty sure there is a plate there, like on the 987/987S if you remove the plate, it looks like the launch car aloha steve
  16. PDK is the name of Porsche's original technology that was used a while back in a sportscar (racecar) aloha steve
  17. porsche bought 20% of VW piech and family own a lot, but i'm not sure if you add theirs to the PAG 20%, it makes over 50% aloha steve Dual clutch gearbox that always has the next gear ready...... when you change gear it is instant with no drop in acceleration. Since Porsche have just purchased the majority share in VW I suspect they will use the newly developed DSG type technology now seen in the Veyron. P.S. To answer the original question Tiptronic is crap!
  18. i believe it is to show where the driver's edge of the car is in germany, you park halfway on the sidewalk and halfway on the street in small towns aloha steve This sounds like an elegant solution. I didn't know that lamp didn't work, until someone at the stop light mentioned it. It was foggy, by the way. I wonder why Porsche chose to light the left side only.
  19. it happened to me twice 2002 Boxster S and 2004 Boxster 550 SE bad luck/karma on my part, i guess you will get a replacement engine that is exactly the same as the one you had before there is no repair option sorry you had this problem aloha steve
  20. on US models, the left rear light is the only one that goes on i am pretty sure this holds true for canadian models too aloha steve
  21. the new motor will have a new block number aloha steve
  22. 2004 550 SE less than 12k miles in one year :( on the bright side, since i never made it to 15k miles on any of the 3 motors in my 2002 S, or on this one, i never had to pay for an oil change at the dealer :) aloha steve i hope they have a 550 SE motor in the US anyone know the part number for the 2004 S and the 2004 SE motors?
  23. looking in the driver's side vent, the snork is VERY clearly the wider 987 style shown in lorens' diagram a couple of posts down in this thread http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2280 and NOT the narrow one from the 986 shown in the same post notice that the 986 one has the "cup" at the end while the 987 doesn't it's already hot at 10 AM here, and i have to detail my G35 Coupe, so i'd rather not open the engine on my 550 SE right now, maybe early tomorrow morning i'll take a look i'm gonna check out kevin the slow's pictures and compare aloha steve ps- i just looked at the diagram above again, and it looks like the 987 part is exactly as i remember from when i opened it up before
  24. wow, that's 2 cheap shots at ppbb in one thread :) you should note that kevin c and i are both deputies on ppbb and have been members here since the beginning of renntech (check our member numbers) links to renntech and the name loren are NOT banned on ppbb you're gonna have to believe me that your post was NOT deleted, i have access to all the deleted posts, and it is not there that said, i'll check my air filter out one day this weekend and email you pics if it is much different that the ones KTS posted do you want to know about the air filter area only, or about the "snork" area too? have a great holiday weekend aloha steve Hi Steve, That would be great! I'm really wondering if the air box is the same. If the MAF and piping is relocated like on the 987, then I'm inclined to think they are. Your reference to renntech.org is still there on PPBB, so maybe just words like Loren are banned  which is too bad since Loren's been very helpful to me and a great guy when I met him in person. Thanks, again, Steve for helping to solve the 550 SE air filter/housing mystery. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  25. kevin c is not kevin the slow the references to the drawings were not deleted AFAIK renntech.org refernces are allowed, kevin c and i frequently refer people here for the vast amount of technical knowledge i'll take some pics for you if you like aloha steve  <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
