  1. Loren, do you know that you are THE MAN!!!!! By the way, Loren, the standard Becker radio CDR-220 is the standard 1DIN, right?
  2. Loren, do you know that you are THE MAN!!!!!
  3. Hi Guys/Loren, Does anyone have radio wiring diagram or any information on the color coding of the wiring system. I am going to be installing a new radio (not becker) and need to make sure that I understand the boxster wiring diagram. Can anyone help?
  4. Ok. So I serviced the MAF. This is the first time I replaced the air filter since I purchased the Porsche. Dang! Was that old filter filthy! No wonder I was getting a bad MAF reading. Ok, so I cleaned the MAF, replaced the filter and gave the engine a cleaning. So far, no CEL and the car purrrrrssss beautifully. Also, before all of this I remember there were very sweet smelling fumes when the car idled. Now there is no smell or sweet fumes. What a pleasure. I think the dirty MAF caused a lean burn. Correct me if I am wrong, Loren. All I am dealing with now is the ignition switch, CD reading problem and the AC controller LCD display. I guess this is the JOY of owning a Porsche.
  5. I have the very same problem. No matter what type of CD I put in, I always get the error. What a headache. I tried the cleaner, no go, I tried the CD lens cleaner, no go. I am either going to wait for a deal on eBay or buy some aftermarket radio. If anyone knows how to fix this problem let me know.
  6. OMG! Thanks so much for the link. I am so happy that I can buy the LCD seperate. What a relief!! This is great news!!!
  7. Hey Guys/Loren, My AC controller display seems to be kicking the bucket. The unit itself works perfectly fine, except for the display which is acting crazy. Any idea as to what this unit costs and/or if it is repairable? Sheldon
  8. You can get them from Becker for under $2.00 each (last time I checked) plus shipping. You can also usually find them on eBay for $10.00 or more! Where are you located? another member here might loan you their set... Thanks, Loren. What are they actually called so I can do a search online. Clear Lake, Houston, TX if anyone is near me, please let me help me out.
  9. The last statement is true. Does anyone know where I can purchase the two radio pins/gadgets to remove the radio from the console?
  10. Thanks Roger. I will make a note of this. What type of cleaners do most people use for the cleaning of the MAF, etc.
  11. i'm not sure which one is the latest switch, but regarding your 1128/1130 codes, i would check for vacuum leak. the usual suspects are the oil filler cap, cracked oil filler tube, torn Air/Oil Separator bellows tube, etc. has the A/OS ever been replaced? that bellows tube is NOTORIOUS for tearing and creating 1128/1130 codes. $10 says that's what it is. ;) Chris, do you know where I can located these bellow tubes, etc. I appreaciate your advice.
  12. Honestly, this shipping is a rip off for the cost of those things. Does anyone have an idea where I can get some cool tail lights?
  13. I am actually getting an engine light with the P1128&P1130 codes, hence the reason for my cleaning the MAF. The ignition is the white switch. So I am confused about which one is the latest switch.
  14. Hi Guys, I know you have seen tons of the same postings, but I was wondering if someone can give me some good advice on what I can service while I have the engine compartment open. I intend on cleaning my MAF, etc. Can someone also provide me with a good procedures on how to clean the MAF without causing further damage? What equipment will I need, etc. Any advice is always appreciated. Secondly: I have some issues with my ignition switch as well. I have replaced the switch itself several times. Each time I replace the switch it works fine for about 2-3 days, engine starts on first turn. However, after some time this changes. Basically everything seems fine. I put in the key, turn on the ignition, lights come on, etc. However, when I try start the car, nothing. I basically have to hold the key in the start position until the car eventually starts. Sometimes this can take 1-2 minutes. Does anyone have any advice on this. Sheldon By the way, this is for my 2000 Porsche Boxster.
  15. Thanks Stefan, I will be working it real soon.
  16. hmmmmmmmmm......remove the bulbs?????
  17. Anyway I get directions on getting this replaced or at least lubricated for now?
  18. Thanks for the input guys. In fact, when I press down on the fenders over the wheels it makes that noise. Does this mean it is the the ball joint on the arm? The car is in great shape and I cannot begin to imagine why at 57K this would happen. Call me ignornant I guess.
  19. Hello Fellow Porsche Owners, I have one for you all. I have a 2000 Boxster with 57K on the clock. I have started noticing/hearing noises coming from the front end of the vehicle. It sounds like the suspension or shocks, not to sure since I am no machanic. Anyway, when I am driving from about 20-40 and pulling off or stopping it sounds like an old car with really bad suspension. It seems to make terrible noises especially over small bumps. To me it sounds like something is really dry. Any suggestions on how one can lubricate the suspension, etc.
  20. Thanks guys, I will look into this. I need to get an oil change soon so I will ask them to run the Diagnostics check and see what parts are covered. This warranty issue is giving me a headache. I am posting a new topic concerning suspension noises.
  21. Unfortunately I dont have the owners manual. Can I download it anywhere?
  22. Loren, or anyone: Can you please direct me to the link that would give me DETAILED instructions on how I can get to the engine compartment so I can clean my MAF, etc. I need to know how to remove the top so I don't damage anything. Thanks
  23. OK, I would like to clean the MAF since I think it needs it. Can anyone direct me to detailed instructions on how to take the top apart to get to the MAF?
  24. Can anyone give me more information about the warranty for emissions? I heard by law Porsche has to cover all parts concerning emissions on vehicles that have no less than 80000 miles. Is this true? Is it 4yrs/80000 or which ever comes first? I am so confused. I got a CEL P0430 and P1115 Should I take it in to the dealer?
