  2. thanks ad sach already put a call into my race mechanic....hes going to try to get the set up is the m030 actually a strut made by porsche or is it the "kit" including strut, spring, rod, link stab bar? and how did you get your boxster with the us version in it? soon we will be able to pass all other numbered porsches on the track! (high aspirations)...i just have to learn to drive first ric
  3. can the boxster take the suspension of another porsche....ie will a used shock/strut row m030 fit on my car....or perhaps the newer track ready suspension setups thanks ric
  4. my god toolpants....how you get this info.....you are either a true guru or cia thanks ric
  5. those are some nice mods for a boxster cf accents....short throw.....looks like nitrous and wide band? is this the guy that did his boxster up and call it a gt3r? any more pix from that day> ric
  6. is there a hack to turn off the airbag got a 2 month old porsche kid porsche childseat and air bag control is pricey thanks ric
  7. heres a link to the guy that had a good thing with the kit but increased boost more than recommended and blew the engine http://trentcarter.com/Boxster.asp im getting the kit this month but they( turboperformance center ) had to make the eaton sc brackets special.....their r&d is on hold to put more into the 996 sc kits...tom pushed for me cause i ordered about 1.5 yrs ago.... link to sc kit- http://www.turboperformance.ws/Porsche/SCK...BSC/Boxster.htm i have to know not to be greedy with booost then again i just had to rebuild a turbo on my volvo and am now going from 18t to super 60 wheel size... will be joining boostaholics support group!
  8. i'll take a copy to are there settings that would help in autox? thanks ric
  9. tool pants! you are a boxster nut! its nice to see someone with a passion for this type of stuff your energy forges the way for others i still am a firm believer that if enough individuals tune the boxster to a mean street/track machine......porsche will listen and develop...hopefully we dont blow up too many engines before that day comes ric
  10. riverflyer.....whyd you sell the viper anyway? i just ran my last autox with the illinois viperclub...sweet cars but i still came in 1st in class anyway
  11. I have the supercharger kit from turbo performance center coming in 2-3 weeks comes with an eaton 62 blower, fvd high flow cat, headers, bigger intake pipe, cone filter, and to bring the temp down i'm putting in an aquamist 2d system to inject water/methanol problem with modding is these bolt on's are **** expensive! there was a boxster from cal. published in excellence mag....called his a gt-r or gt3-r went to 3.4 and threw 75 shot dry nitrous system in it....dont think he blew up yet ...saw it in a dvd recently other thing is that theres not much out there aside from the bigger engine.. however for the 996 and tt....tech art, by design, ruf, gemballa, ff, roock.....everyone is into it....i talked with my mechanic from eurosport and he said its just too hard to build up or tweek the boxster engine if more of us modify and show off at meets, drivers ed, autox....porsche will listen its happened to mercedes/amg, audi/street tuners, vw/neuspeed, viper/hennessy.....
  12. still have the springs in the garage...will take a look made a nasty mistake at an autocross yesterday had my front tire psi at 40 and rears at 40....understeer'd like crazy loosened up the front strut bar took it down to 38 then 36 to front with no change, went to 42 then 44 on the rears...which did help a little....finally 46 when i deflated the tires on the ride home..checked the gas cover and was surprised to see fronts supposed to be 29! no wonder my sidewall chalk marks never scuffed off well...i love this car and can wait to get that "riding on rails" feel
  13. i was at an autocross today and noticed the guy with a biturbo had a nice interior the door handle in particular was nice....one piece sweeping from the pull to the compartment cover..compared to the boxster plastic piece covering the pull, leather handle, painted piece going from handle to compartment cover question....steve at imagineauto said he could paint anypiece to match the other parts i have.....can i fit the turbo door handle to my interior...toolpants?loren? thanks ahead of time ric heres some pics of the autox http://share-adobe.shutterfly.com/action/s...pen=1&sm=0&sl=0
  14. ohh....sorry wide part (closest to seatback) 25 3/4 inches narrow part (closest to tail)21 1/4inches sides 11inches the tapered sides of the window falls within the two troughs that are already molded into the engine cover...... real important.....the window i cut was 1 inch wider than the opening on each side...so i could rivet the sides down onto the engine cover i did have a problem of cutting to much toward the tail end...the lexan being straight and the cover being curved toward the back....well i had to use filler....so you may want to cut little short of 11 inches and!!!!! i started the opening at the seatback side about i inch away from the center of the center lock bolt good luck ric
  15. how to check if my 2002 has mo30 tuned vs other? ive read some of the posts on the carrera side and just starting to understand the x74 vs m030 controversy.. looked up r&t but they didnt state if the test car was special order or not... i'm curious as to what i have in mine.... i cant outdrive my car yet but if changing struts and shocks will make it that much easier for a novice to handle a curve....i'll do it. the feel of the road with just the h&rs was tremendous compared to stock.....but with my gt2 nose i am currently always on the look out for driveway angles any input greatly appreciated ric
  16. thanks loren....how do the new switches look? i may be able to find an old latch assembly in a "salvage yard".....do you have part numbers for the housing and latch assembly? Im gonna have to get some of the wurth paint anyway.....i like the idea of possibly touching up some of my accessories with that color...ooops ....i see another weekend project!
  17. i have a volvo t5r so modded out that the trunk cant even fit a stroller in it ( to think i used to haul lumber with it)....i am taking a chance also with no spare... proper thing to do is getting runflat tires with tire pressure monitors ....goodyear has one that vettes and prowlers ride on but not sure how it would perform on a porsche or for that matter on a track ... slightly more expensive too...
  18. does anyone know if the 996 hood latch be fitted to the boxster....i like the aluminum lookmoreso than the boxsters... thanks ric
  19. lets face it guys....porsche doesnt want to draw away from its 996 buying crowd seems like they take baby steps with the upgrades have you guys ever read the reviews in road and track? 986 s lateral acceleration (200ft diameter circle) is .95g's on the skid pad:... -only the corvette c5-r, viper srt-10, the enzo, ford gt 40, saleen s7, ruf rturbo, and our own gt-1 and gt-2 beat us and slalom (8 cones spaced at 100ft intervals) is 71.6mph:... -only cars that beat the 986 s were the enzo and viper srt-10 comp coupe...we even beat our own family to king of the hill.... so if you want to feel power...take on an autocross...check out local pca or other driving clubs and unleash the adrenaline! i tried last year and now i'm an autox junkie (all you need to start is a helmet) look here: http://www.scca.org/Inside/Index.asp?IdS=0...egionalSites&~=
  20. so it melted the plastic while it was down?
  21. adsach hey...i went back and paintbrushed the letters on....i have a decal guy that said he could place them on so theres no brush marks but as long as i dont enter a concours...cant notice brush unless 1 foot away.... the second layer of lexan is a good idea.....but that hose pushes up right against it already....i drove around today and it was louder but not to the point where you cant converse with the passenger.......mostly hear detail sounds of the engine....very mild tappets....vacuum in acceleration....which i kinda like(put an hks blowoff valve in the volvo and love when it goes "kwoosh" i do have a supercharger from tpc coming in may if i play my cards right and that sound just might outdo the bov i love this car!
  22. i did mine in a day.....had to figure how to do the wiring from scratch......when all was done.....ended up just leaving the valve open.....without the control...if you just want to do it for looks....can probably bypass the wiring part and just clamp everything on..... the tech illustration is in the tsb section.... good luck
  23. had a free day today so tried to finish an old project.... hopefully wont get to loud and hot in the cabin but i love the way the intake manifold looks with red paint the pix will show a synopsis of the steps i went through... tapeing took a while before the paint....cutting the hatch was tedious cause didnt have a template and wasnt sure how big of a hole to cut........the lexan cutting, riveting was easy,.... figuring how to make the lexan hold stabile was the most time consuming..... if any of you are wanting to do the same....i could give measurements so it goes faster.... if your not a diy'er....check out adrenaline motor sports = http://www.adrenalineautomotive.com enjoy ric engine hatch window
  24. got the paint at local paint shop...got the name from the service guys at porsche two coats of adhesion needed one to lightly coat...then wet layer to dry in 15 right when paint goes on the place i bought it from was colorama in lisle illinois....i already asked if they could ship to others.....but itd be a combustable/hazard so tooo expensive the guys said if you bring the color number on the can ...you can have it made up anywhere.....acrylic based paint for the guards red....for others call local porsche guys or find it here tsb? good luck..watch for pix of the intake manifold....should turn out nice ric
  25. i may try clear coat on the next hot day...thanks dont think i can...got a list of to do's for other two cars....im painting the intake manifolds for the boxster now no spacers on the rear...gemballas ride beautifully...and that with lowering springs!
