  1. Thanks for all the suggestions. Will start with checking the battery cables, battery, starter cables and things of the like and take it from there. Will also try to bypass the clutch switch as last resort before taking out the starter and have it checked. Happy new year. P.S:Loren, noticed there are no "Renntech" items in your Amazon store, you should have baseball caps and t-shirts with the "WWW.Rentech.org" logo, or perhaps the Rentech logo combined with a Porsche logo as well.
  2. In retrospective that is the reason why I replaced the ignition swith. However, the battery is about 2yrs old. Will check. Could Durametric help me detect the problem?
  3. Is about a year old, it is the new model, the one that you have to replace the ignition housing as well.
  4. Hi All: Would like to know what could be the simptoms of a faulty, not completly inop, starter motor relay. My car always starts fine 1st thing in the AM, however, in an unexpected or random way some times when I turn the key the car won't start. It will only start if the car is pushed started. Don't think is the battery cause all electrical parts work ok, the volt meter shows above 12 volts and I can't hear the tipical "tack, tack, tack" of the strter trying to turn under low voltage, it just does nothing; could this be a faulty starter motor realy, would Durametric show an error code when this happens? Interested to know before spending $400.00 + dollars on a new starter. Note: The starter switch was replace with the new model. Thanks MY99, C2, 6 speeds, coupe.
  5. Did my homework, got a MY99 Coupe C2 6 speeds. !VERY HAPY! P.S. This website is the !!!BEST!!!!
  6. Loren: Where can I get Techtron and how much to put in the tank, also what gas dryer you recommend? Although I live in Miami think that the change in temperature, very high humidity here, and in what we floridians consider winter my cause a bit of water in the tank. I have a similar problem with MY99 Coupe, C2, 6 speed standard. Won't show 100% full, after filling up it shows about 1/16 short of 4/4, then the gauge drops very fast during the 1st 30 miles after fillup, stays in 1/2 tank for a long while. I'm getting aprox 220 miles per full tank in the city. Have never let it shows low gas alarm.
  7. Check this post for an option: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...c=16233&hl=
  8. How can I test the alarm in my US MY99 C2 Coupe 6speed?
  9. It looks like it is factory crimpt, perhaps you would have to cut it and ause one of those fasteners with a screw.
  10. Once again, thanks. I was asking because I got a perfectly working Alternator for $50.00 although learned about the manual and tip difference after purchase. Will check the model number and see what I got.
  11. Thanks Loren. How can I tell the difference, by the part number? Checked Sunset and it only shows one alternator model for a 996 MY99: 99660301203.
  12. Hi Guys: What is the difference between alternators from a manual and a tip 996 C2, can they be interchanged?
  13. You won't believe it... my driveway. Yeap.
  14. Hi: Someone keyed my car, tried Quixx Scratch Remover but no help. Called Scratch Wizard, who advertises on "Die Porsche Gassette" the newslwtter of the Gold Coast Region of PCA but they do not service Miami. Any body knows a reputable scratch removing place here in Miami? Thanks
  15. No. I meant that the shaft had already been cut to fit my car. I had to take it to the dealer, along with the valet key I bought from Sunset. Cost for the dealer to mate the 2 keys to my car: $47.50 .... and they gave me a cup of Starbucks while I waited. Thanks Kim Thanks Loren
  16. Loren, When I bought my keys from Sunset, I emailed them a scan of the title showing me as owner and the VIN, and they sent me keys already cut and ready to go. "ready to go" does that means you started your car with no further programing, if that is the case, how much did you pay?
  17. At leat here in Miami we uswed ti have abn emission test but not any more, so I guess is not a concern.
  18. I meant to take it off and leave the car without it. Think the car would hav more power.
  19. Can the Catalyst converter be removed from a MY99 C2?
