  1. Hey. I paid $2,900 plus about $1,000 for paint and installation. My kit included: GT3 front bumper with splitter and hood vent, GT3 bumper, and GT2M rear spolier. Check out my car in the registry and add yours there!!
  2. Check ebay. I have bought several Porsche nav disks there. I only had to make sure that they were compatible with my PCM version.
  3. I think the price was fair, but why worry about it now?? It's a done deal..enjoy it in good health :) Dave Hello Giahan. I'm am in the Los Angeles area. I'm not sure the dealer provided a smog certificate when I first bought the car, but I do know that here in Kalifornia that you will at some point have to smog check your car as I will mine. I think both cars will pass the emission part, but not the visual check part - so we'll figure that out somehow..?? Also, although an SC may void part of the warranty (extended or original), I think it has to be proved the the SC caused something to fail that you are making a claim on.. We'll see it that happens - hopefully though we won't need to worry about that. On another note have you dyno'd your car to see what the RWHP and RWTQ are? I will do mine shortly.
  4. I have one in my car. It was an option I believe. It works wells and was self adjusting the speed based upon the amount of rain - it was pretty amazing.
  5. Nice find and congrats. Price seems pretty good. What state are you in and did you have to pass a smog testing upon registration? How do you like the EVO SC so far?
  6. Whats going on with the Zebra striped 997 with TT wheels in the background? LOL x2 . That was a custom paint job for some car that ran in a recent gumball rally or something. It was parked next to mine at Speed gallery... FWIW - I asked the same question because I saw being drive arounf the SF Valley - LA, CA.
  7. Yes, I had my Tip dyno'd. Are you asking to find out if it is possible? Or are you asking to find out if anyone else has had any error lights pop up? Or are you wanting to know what RWHP tips put out? My car was dyno'd (dynamics dyno) and no CELs came on at all. It was held in 3rd gear in manual mode. The number was 260 RWHP. Seemed low to me, but TIPS have more loss in HP than sticks. It is a fact we live with, which is why I SC'd my car. I have not done another dyno yet though..
  8. http://www.nrauto.com/ Overall, I was satisfied although my body shop had to resurface the top. Since my car was black, any imperfection on the surface would show. Let me know with any questions. good luck! Looks mean and hot. I also did something similar from misha.com. A GT3 front and rear bumper, and a GT2 wing like yours. It does improve the looks. Although I did end up taking the splitter off for now, as my car was lowered and I was scraping everything.
  9. Dealer did PCM upgrade 21.a to 2.1b for free and replaced the BOSE amp that broke for free. They are checking to see if they can upgrade the PCM to 3.x for me as well. Now, they do say there is a 2007 DVD (05/2007, #997.642.257.05) it is about $600 from them. Heading to ebay where it is $200.
  10. I got my car back from the dealer. They upgraded the PCM from 2.1A to 2.1B. They broke the BOSE Amp while doing it, but repaced it for free. I originally went in because I had an "Incompatible Navigation Software" message at the bottom on the screen while going from main to nav. The upgrade did not fix that!? I do have to say, I only got the message after replacing a 10/2005 DVD with a 05/2006 DVD. The system does read the newer DVD, but I still get the incompatible software message - it has stumped my dealer so far. Anyway, I may try a newer dvd 05/2007 (997.642.257.05) to see it that will work - plus I want the newer maps. Does anyone know the part number and where to get the 10/2007 navigation DVD?
  11. I'm having my pcm 2.1 upgraded to rev b. MY05 997s. A dealer is doing it for free, so far. But, they did screw up the amp on the first try and had to order me a new one (they pay still). So when I get the amp installed tomorrow and the rest of the update, hopefully it will be AOK. You can get some software upgrades done under warranty, especially if there are TSBs about PCM issues. I figure that most dealers don't want to do it, because they risk screwing up other things while doing the upgrade - so it is risky..
  12. I had my dealer update the PCM 2.1 to rev B. But they screwed up the amp software in the process, which broke the amp. They will install an new amp tomorrow and hopefully finish the process without any more problems. They are doing it all for free, so far. They tell me that there is no upgrade for a MY05 997s from PCM 2.1 to 3, nor is there a 2007 nav dvd for the car. Do i believe them??
  13. Well, I checked everything that was obvious - but did not take anything apart. I took car to another shop and they said the ribbon wire coming down from the steering wheel column to the rack was broken. It was broken when the other shop did the alignment!! So the other shop fixed and all is OK. What wire or ribbon wire are they talking about??
  14. Could be water in the gas - after sitting for awhile in very cold weather. Auto stores sell additives to fix that I believe.. An occasional misfire happens (p03's) and I don't think there is cause to worry..
  15. OK, I'll look under the dash tonight. To my knowledge - they did not remove the cluster. Thanks...
  16. Thanks for replying Loren. Both shops deny messing with the steering wheel - but I am pretty sure (as you probably are) that someone messed with the harness. It is good to know that all of the codes are related to the st wheel and/or the GT2 spoiler. Is the harness and connectors able to be gotten to withouot removing the st wheel??
  17. 2005 997C2S PASM tip. Car is having work done by a local shop, but then car had to be taken to another specialized shop. GT3 f/r bumpers put on and a GT2 like spolier. PSS9s and GT3 sway bars were also put on. Car was not finished before going to second shop for a TPC supercharger kit (way, way fast now!). Since back from the second shop and on it's way to the first shop tomorrow, car has the following codes on the Dura reader: airbag: 8007/8008 drivers airbag stage 1 above upper limit a/c : c203 fault steering wheel ecu (drive) front : 8042 pas airbag stage 2 incorrect code?? rear : 8034 rear brake light. brake light does not work. The horn, and tip gear up/down do not work. And the first shop did not install the GT3 harness for the spoiler yet - will that get rid of the third brake light code?? I'm not sure if someone tried to remove the st wheel to do an alignment?? Any help on the these codes would be appreciated, so I can be fully informed before bringing the car back to the first shop.
  18. You may also want to check out Misha in CA. I bought their GT3 bumper (OEM lip and chin spoilers), GT2M wing with GT3 harness, and GTM bumper, they also installed mesh in all bumper vent openings as well as the vents in the wing. The kit looks fantastic! http://www.misha911.com/
  19. I agree with Neil I have an S and my best mileage was 26 highway, usually 25+or so and 16+/- around town! I have a 997C2S with tip and average an overall 18MPG.
  20. Thanks for your perspective. I have not tracked the car, but maybe will sometime. I have done headers, mufflers, intake, and ECU modifications already. I still think, in general the NA 991 series are somewhat underpowered. And frankly, having more power available with the beauty and preciseness on the 911 series is very attractive to me. It may be crazy - but I think I'm not any crazier than a 996TT (or 997TT) owner wanting 600 or 700Hp. However I have always been amazed how Porsche efficiently uses the HP their engines make to get them to go very fast, and quickly. I had a 1976 911S Targa (back in 1977/1978) and even though it was only 167HP (crank) it hauled butt.. I do agree than RUF does a lot more than the other companies with their SC kit, particularly on the intake side. Thanks all!
  21. I looked at the Evo (VF-engineering, centrifugal type, $15k installed), the TPC racing (roots type, $14k installed), and the RUF SC kit (centrifugal, $27k installed) modifications. I had to eliminate the RUF kit, since it was out of my price range. But it, along with the EVO SC did not seem to produce as much torque as the TPC SC kit did.. I'm thinking I want to maximize torque, especially for a tiptronic. So, has anyone out there had experience with any of these kits installed on a 997S? With or without tip? Am I crazy to do a modification like this with a car still under factory warranty AND a CPO warranty from Porsche? Lastly, the TPC kit looks difficult to install - especially for a tiptronic. Does enyone think it is worth it? I need help in deciding what to do. I want more power, but want to keep the 997S..
  22. Does anyone have any rwhp numbers for a stock 997S? With and without tiptronic?? I have some numbers for my slightly modified tip, but don't have stock rwhp numbers to compare with. Any help would be appreciated...
  23. My V1 always goes off when approaching those - it is set on Logic mode - L.. Mine lights up like a Xmas tree (both coming and going) when those "Your Speed is XXX" signs are encountered. Also running in the Logic (L) Mode. could be where you have the V1 located. Mine is slightly right of the rear view mirror - up high between rear view mirror and passenger visor..
