  1. If you mean the resonance chamber in the air filter box, this is just for environmental reasons (noise) K & N filters and silicon hoses gives little or no advantage, only a special intake manifold and air filter box, chip, possibly with headers and exhaust is worth it IMHO.
  2. 997 and others use power when not in use (parked), the standard battery is just sufficient for daily driving. Small gel cell batteries are better suited for track cars.
  3. Launch control is only possible if the car is equipped with a PDK transmission, and than optionally. Never with a Tiptronic.
  4. Strictly speaking it is not necessary if the engine temp. act still as it should, however, after 10 years i would have done it to be sure, it's not much more work and not expensive.
  5. V®6 and V8 Cayenne engines use both maintenance free timing chains, however, the V®6 is well known for a stretching chain, which you can not hardly prevent. An annual oil and filter change, or max. 20.000 Km (whichever comes first) with a recommended oil weight and brand, does any harm IMHO.
  6. A light/rain sensor failure can happen once in a while, if you are sure the car is equipped with, use a PIWIS diagnostic tool and check the programming and fault codes.
  7. There were water penetration problems with the tilt sensor mounted near the battery, therefore is a kit available, sensor and wiring, to move the tilt sensor under the driver seat ( Europe LHD cars)
  8. Probably the TPS itself, take a look if your car is equipped with this option in first place.
  9. @ SA321, assuming that the test is performed starting with a cold engine and the recommended oil weight, which become warmer while driving, everything seems to be OK.
  10. Porsche recommends no fuel additives (oil additives neither) in contrary, however, a premium brand fuel additive mixed in the correct way with fuel has advantage, a clean engine, valves and combustion room, resulting in more miles per gallon and smoother response IMHO.
  11. I would check, to be sure, if the shoes are still in good shape. Since they are about 10 years old, the friction part will come loose (they are glued) from the metal shoe, especially after such a rough usage.
  12. The procedure for minimum power drain is key out of the ignition and car locked, this is the basis for further investigations.
  13. The values extend for the North European climate (the engine temp. gauge read approx. 70° C.) while driving with a bypass or defective, fully open valve, the car no longer meets the environment conditions over here. The Tiptronic cooling system is connected to the engine cooling system, depending the prevailing outside and gearbox temperatures, the valve opens and close for a longer or shorter time. Under winter circumstances and normal driving, the valve stays closed most of the time, but as said, it depend on the climatic conditions where you live.
  14. A Tiptronic cooling water valve bypass (or continuously open valve) will drop the engine temp. by approx. 15° C. Not recommended by Porsche.
  15. It is indeed a symptom of a failing high pressure fuel pump on DFI engines, anyway, the dealer can measure the rest pressure and the actual pressure on the fuel rail, to be sure.
  16. The bleeding (filling) system is used on flat six engines, Cayenne presents no bleeding problems.
  17. It is obvious that a clutchless compressor, with internal flow control, consume HP when the AC is engaged. The difference with a clutch compressor is a smoother and more permanent power demand, there is no clutch which takes brutal HP when engaged, and releasing them back when they come disabled depending the in car (AC) temp. or the required engine power (full throttle). It is normal that when the ECONOMY button is pressed, the compressor flow control valves close to the minimum gas flow position, the compressor takes than about 1 HP instead of 5 HP in full flow position. Probably the DME react not well in some conditions.

  20. You have tested the drain between the ventilation channels and fire wall, but have you checked the exit on the channels to the drain hose for blockage? If yes, take a look for standing water or cracks in the room under the wiper trim, use a garden water hose and test the front windshield seals and sun roof front drains as well. There must be a leak somewhere in the ventilation (AC) channels, windshield seals, roof drains or in the room under the wipers.
  21. Cayenne have no bleeder, just refill, do a ride till hot, let the engine cool down and top up the coolant tank.
  22. Remove the trim under the glove box, (same procedure as for interior filter replacement) big part of the AC system should be accessible now and search for a rubber hose between the system and the firewall.
  23. Cayenne AC compressors have no clutch, they are running continuously, the needed gas flow become arranged inside the pump. The advantage is that there is no tactile power drop, the disadvantage is that in case of a leak, the pump continues running without lubrication, they can not be switched off, not by the system and not manually. It is for this reason recommended to repair a leak ASAP, and the AC does not turn off for whatever reason. The pump will start seizing overtime.
  24. Take a look in to the thermostat housing, with a little luck the broken part is still there.
  25. 1) Check the fuses to start with (under the dash,left foot well), 2) disconnect the PCM for a couple of minutes and check the fuse on the back at the same time, 3) check connectors and wiring, 4) check for fault codes with a PIWIS tool, 5) reprogram with a PIWIS tool, 6) repair or replace the unit. Hope it helps.
