  1. Porsche cars should have a tight grip at that speed whatever the type of suspension is, there are several points to check/improve: steering system + pump - excessive play/slack - pump pressure too high (uncommon) /// Shock absorbers test - faulty/leaking /// Suspension in general - cracked or used silent blocs/excessive play ball joints /// Alignment /// Use approved tyres brand/dimensions. Hope it helps.
  2. Fill up the fuel tank and (let) check the alignment, the car is probably out of alignment.
  3. All Z.F. make Tiptronics have this in greater or lesser range, you can feel the lock working to eleminate slip between the engine and the gearbox, depending on load and RPM. Nothing to worry about.
  4. No need to be concerned about that, the white smoke after a cold start is vapour, normal in Dublin freezing temperatures conditions IMHO.
  5. Porsche's delivered new have only one rear fog light, however, it is still possible that the previous owner did a modification, i can not know that. It looks like the car is suffering with a strange electrical behavior, once with the dash, switch and rear plate illumination, than with a headlight, i would still check the light switch to start with.
  6. Since the battery is replaced, check the + and - cables for proper tightening.
  7. I would check the light switch first, Porsche's have only one rear fog light, R.L. for L.H.D. and R.R. for R.H.D.
  8. The instructions we have got toward cold start/drive: Start the engine - close the door - put the belt on - start driving MAX. RPM 3.000 till the OIL TEMP. reach 190°F (85°C) = approx. 6 miles (10 Km.) of driving - engine RPM can increased up till max.
  9. This is weird, have you tried to fill the tank up, with the pump handle on the nine o clock possition?
  10. Let check your car with a PIWIS tester. I'll bet there are codes in the memory's, since the car is suffering with gearbox troubles too ( see your post on a Tiptronic topic ).
  11. maroo, The timing ( possition ) of one camshaft is not consistent with the crankshaft possition, i would ignore it, for the moment, and clear the code, recheck the codes in a week or two. A lot of Cayenne's have this error due a slight stretched timing chain, you can rectify the timing if you have the knowledge and the tools. Not a real DIY.
  12. wvicary, the fuses secures the injectors and coils circuits in case of short to ground or to +. A "normal" cracked coil has no influence, but a short one do.
  13. No need to buy new lug bolts, you can easily repaint the bolts (heads) with a can of zinc paint spray, remove 3 bolts at each wheel, paint them and let dry, put the bolts in place ( check the proper torque ), remove the remaining bolts and do as the previous ones, the wheels can stay on the car if you do it that way.
  14. Greg, This is a geometrical phenomenon ( alignment ) called Ackerman effect, it is normal under cold conditions and discussed here before. Please do a search.
  15. Look out, there are fuses for bank 1 and bank 2, the fuses covers the coils and the injectors on the same Bank. There is one fuse blown causes the melted coil, the engine runs on one Bank now. The fuses are located in the fuse/relay box under the trim in front of the windscreen left side of the car.
  16. I would check for fault codes first, and do a ATF change if the car looks faultless.
  17. Take a look at POST #4, a PIWIS tester, fault code(s) and a knowledgeable tech. is all you need at this stage. Sorry.

Colin, Looks like you have mentioned in your post two contradict facts: " the clutch isn't slipping...... and further: the clutch also felt semi-engaged when it was in gear even when the pedal was in the fully upright possition. This caused the engine to rev highly when gas applied and the car feel like it had inadequate power". This is slipping IMHO. I'm almost sure your car is suffering with a mechanical clutch issue, rather than a hydraulic issue. I could be wrong of course.
  19. The "brake pedal switch" in your car is build in the ABS unit, a PIWIS tester is needed to read the right fault code first. Could be a faulty switch or wiring problem, i would contact the dealer since the car is still under 2 years warranty.
  20. 1/ disconnect the wiring on the back of the lighter - push a new fuse in/if the fuse blows, check the wiring - if the fuse remains intact, replace the lighter unit. 2/ check the adjustment relevant switch, motor, connectors and the wiring for short to + or - (ground) - check for mechanical damage or blocked parts on the seat frame. 3/ depending type of radio, standard CDR needs the supplied special tool.
  21. Depending on the type of suspension on the 996, the 997 PASM could be lower. I would take the measurements on the front bumper in the deepest point of the driveway with the 996, and do the same thing with the 997 PASM, while you perform a test drive. Looks the best way to be sure of it.
  22. Can you post the exact vehicle data: Cayenne V6 - V8 - Turbo and MY please, its easier for the members to help you out. MY 2007 doesn't exist. Thanks.
  23. The oil filler cap and tube are the coolest spots on the M96 engine, where the oil vapours condensate spontaneously, with cold temperatures and/or short drive cycles as you stated.
  24. Some TSB's concerning DME programming, environment related interventions and a small quantity of details are different. The TSB as mentioned is the same for ROW Europe, if your car is still eligible, your dealer can check that.
