  1. Also check it right after you turn off the car.  For sure at that time it should be less than full.  If it still reads full then you probably have a sensor problem.

    Well it looks like it is overfull after the change, although not my much, just above the dot. Dealer says not an issue. But it still has me wary. I really thought it was the gauge, becasue I did not see this before the Battery swap.

Ok, After I did the ignition switch replacement (great M&P by the way. the DIY was great) When reconnecting the battery, putting in the radio codes and making sure all the electronics worked the only item that is not working right seems to be the Oil Level indicator.  Says dead full, when before I did the work it was within the marks. Is there a way to reset it?  I am 90% sure it is from the battery disco/reconnect.

    What do you mean by 'dead full'? where on the indicator does the oil register---at the line where the upper arrow points or the 1 space above the line which the arrow points to.

    Does it show 'dead full' after its been driven and then re-started again after its been sitting for about 30 mins or so?

    Sorry, I must have been distracted when I typed that part "dead full"

    Before I did the battery it was right in the middle after the countdown from 5, now it is right to the top line.

What do you mean retrofit the exhaust?  As in after the fact not ordered with the car from day one?  If that is the case, I did it that way.  Didn't think the car would need the PSE.  I mean, it is a Porsche after all and it should sound like one when you drive it right?  Wrong.  I felt myself always wanting a better sounding note to reflect the true boxer engine sound.  PSE was the answer.  All 911's should come standard with PSE.  IMHO though.

    Yeah, sorry I use the term Retrofit in my daily work. Yeah after the FACT. Is this something you had a shop do? Any suggestions. I find myself feeling the same way. Gotta be my biggest gripe with the car overall.

  5. Ok, I have been looking, cannot seem to locate the instructions or opinions on the topic.

    I was told that one of my Struts is leaking and needs replacement.

    Here are my questions.

    1. What type of struts are best to go with?

    2. Can this be a DIY or best by professional, if DIY how difficult, do I need any special Porsche Tools. and does anyone have a link to the instructions?

    Any help is sincerely appreciated. I was able to sell the Wife on the Need for the new wheels and tires becasue I will need an alignment after. Woohoo.

  6. Ok, I have been on the site all day, trying to put together the instructions on doing the aluminum interior kit myself. Cannot seem to find the cluster surround removal instructions.

    I think overall my problem points in doing it myself will be the door pulls and the lids on the door. Any additonal input on this would be great, that and of course the removal of the gauge cluster surround instructions.

As Loren said make sure it is for a <MY01 or the lights won't line up.  If you get a genuine GT2 or copy for an >MY02 then you will have zero chance of it fitting unless you change out the fenders and lights.  If you do go the complete change route, talk to Eli since he just did it on his 996.

    Acknowledged. I was told the aftermarket that they fabricate is for the 99-01. That it will fit right in, although some minor adjustments may need to be done to the lights. nothing more then centering them slightly. We also discussed this same issue of the >02 and they are fully aware and say they do these onsite themselves.

  8. Ok here's the deal, spoke with Neil at NRauto. Real nice guy very informative. He told me to replace the original bumper with the GT2 ( or most upgrades like the Turbo or GT3) you need to trim off 1 1/2" of the reinforcement just before the bolts. Or you can purchase a new reinforcement to replace it. I would think trimming off the reinforcement would be a good way to go.

    I will be going through with the change as I do body work I will take pictures along the way and try and provide a detailed M&P.

  9. Do a search on this topic.  Both here and over at rennlist.com

    It has been covered extensively.  Basically the peel and stick kits are a basic "you get what you pay for" deals. Trashy, cheap, and should not be in a Porsche. If there are specific parts you are after you have several options available.  eBay is one place to get parts, another is have them painted to match.  For example, the alum look pieces are artic silver painted from the factory.  If that is the route you are going to go, check with Eric (bumperplugs) since this is something he specializes in and offers for a good bit cheaper than the dealer.  Also, check with the guys up at Sunset Porsche (board sponsor--Parts at Dealer Cost).  I have spent thousands with them over the years and they have some of the best prices and GREAT customer service.

    I just gutted the center console, air vents etc. to get them painted by a friend of mine. The colour is going to be arctic silver. I'll post some pics when all has been said and done.

    how much it would cost @ bumperplugs to get the center trim in dashboard and the side vents painted? There was a price of $429.95 for the center console.

    Of course I could get the info from bumperplugs directly but I was just wondering if someone over here would know?

    So the idea would be compare the DIY results and price with the ones of bumperplugs - if my parts will be nice (let's hope so :) ) At this point cost estimate is around $100. So let's see if such a thing as cheap and good does in deed exist or not...

    Looking forward to seeing the results, so far OEM looks to be from $1200 - 2000 just for the parts.
