I am looking to replace my stock 99 996 front bumper with a GT2 front bumper. Does anyone know if there are a particular set of side skirts that will match up. I have to sand and respray the front bumper anyone so figured I would replace it.

Trying to do my upgrades on a budget.

What? Then why would they sell it? All that needs to be done is a "cut-down" mod of the reinforcement bar behind the bumper. Many guys have done this when doing a turbo facelift. Do a search on this (both here and rennlist) since it has been covered extensively.

Ok here's the deal, spoke with Neil at NRauto. Real nice guy very informative. He told me to replace the original bumper with the GT2 ( or most upgrades like the Turbo or GT3) you need to trim off 1 1/2" of the reinforcement just before the bolts. Or you can purchase a new reinforcement to replace it. I would think trimming off the reinforcement would be a good way to go.

I will be going through with the change as I do body work I will take pictures along the way and try and provide a detailed M&P.

Regards

Joe

Are you sure the the bumper curve will fit the lights and fenders? The MY01 and older cars had different headlights and front fenders.

As Loren said make sure it is for a <MY01 or the lights won't line up. If you get a genuine GT2 or copy for an >MY02 then you will have zero chance of it fitting unless you change out the fenders and lights. If you do go the complete change route, talk to Eli since he just did it on his 996.

Acknowledged. I was told the aftermarket that they fabricate is for the 99-01. That it will fit right in, although some minor adjustments may need to be done to the lights. nothing more then centering them slightly. We also discussed this same issue of the >02 and they are fully aware and say they do these onsite themselves.
