  1. Had mine installed for about 10K miles and never had a problem... make sure you followed the instructions accurately ( MAF positioned the correct way, battery unplugged to relearn air flow )... same experience as kitw.. sounds great! Only drawback is the exposed air filter... stay out of automatic car washes or you will drown the engine!
  2. I was looking at getting some new lloyd mats for my car.. and was wondering how black mats look in a car with space grey + CF interior? also, is there anyone who discounts the llloyd mats for renntech / pca members? :renntech:
  3. it is located in the center of the rear portion of the car, near the oil filter (i think thats what it was, its the circular piece in the background right, highlighted by the yellow glow of the flashlight) and looks like it might be coming from somewhere above perhaps? dont have any way to get the car up on jacks/lift .. had to just shove a camera under there.
  4. so i was looking under my car today for no particular reason, and I see this.. i have no idea what it is or if its normal.. looks to be old oil. 2003 996 coupe 6 speed... only drive like 75 miles a week maximum, about 22k miles on the odometer. any thoughts from any of the more experienced forum members? should i be concerned about anything?
  5. Loren - Might want to put runningthingz on notice.... spaming on the board with click through referral links... check the post history.. nothing but the same post for warranty services.
  6. Thanks for the picture, this works great for the center console... takes about 5-10 seconds after locking for the horn to honk. Great little hack! Thanks again!
  7. I believe TP is for the Traffic Program option... certain FM stations may broadcast alerts, traffic updates etc on that band. Also the issues with the radio are fairly common... the only fix I have tried that works every time is just pulling the fuses. I have had the Amplifier replaced before and that did not solve the problem.
  8. hi loren - I had looked at this post before.. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...9entry719 i thought that clip was to remove the vent and not the trim piece. I see it now and how it works. Do you have a partnumber for those 2 clips in section 3 of the removal image? Thanks
  9. 2003 996 w/o PCM - I have the 'horseshoe' shaped center console piece.. are there any retaining clips at the top of it? There are 2 notches on the horseshoe at the top that match up with the a/c vent assembly. The piece slides in there, but doesn't snap in.. is it just supposed to sit there, finger tight? or are there retaining clips I am missing? I tried calling my local dealer and the parts guys don't have a clue about anything, ever. Thanks.
  10. cleaned my TB last week, smoother Idle and smoother acceleration for sure.. thanks again for the info!
  11. Had the same issues in a 03 996 Bose... Dealer replaced the AMP before, same issues. I am out of warranty now with the same issues. Only fix I have is to pull the Radio fuse, re insert it, and it works. I would imagine its a head unit problem, or a buggy firmware version on those CDR223s.. (bug).. if you are still in warranty try another headunit...
  12. Thanks for the info... figured as much with the head unit... I've had the amp replaced before due to power on/off constantly happening. I can live with some audio presets disappearing for awile until I find a good deal on a PCM system. FYI: I've fixed complete head unit lockups before by removing the fuse and re-inserting it for the head unit. Seems to fix it for the time being. Gremlins to be sure.....
  13. On my 2003 996 with the Bose radio setup, I am losing the audio settings (Bass, Treble, etc) intermittently. Radio presets are still there, but those other settings seem to go missing. Anyone have any idea what the possible culprit could be? Also, if I wanted to go with a PCM to replace the radio, ac, etc... what particular PCM revision will work? 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, etc. Thanks for any help.
  14. Thanks for all the suggestions... and to the houston tx area folks, is one of the dealerships better than the other? I've only been to Porsche of West Houston and it seems pretty small. OK service so far... nothing special.
  15. Mind me asking how much that extended warranty was from your dealer? That may just be the best route. Thanks.
  16. I have about 15,800 miles on my 2003 996 manual trans, grey interior, c2... my warranty is up in a couple of weeks.. is there anything I should be looking for on the car that could warn me to a potential problem that I can get fixed before my warranty expires? I've only had the car for about 800 miles so I am not familiar with the history... any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
