  1. I have Bilstein PSS9 on this car. On demanding tracks (Nurburgring) the car had a lot body roll . First i changed to X73 sway bars. My dealer told me that they are installed in 996tt with sport suspension from factory. Still there was body roll. Yesterday i changed to Eibach adjustable sway bars front and back. I'm driving in softest setting in front and mid setting back. The car feels totally different now. Stiffer and feel more steering response. But they are heavy. Also installed Strut Bar in front from Sportec. If you track the car this is a must was i told from several tuners.
  2. Not cheap. But it's specially made after my spec.( colour, alcantara, size etc..) 1900 euro. Looks very cool. I like the seats too, are they the GT3 Sports seats? Have you got a link to the website to buy the F1 wheel? Was it a big job to change? Thanks. Yes it's the GT3 seats from Porsche (Recaro). Check this link. www.fvd.de , see under interior. They have this wheel in 340 mm diam. Mine in custom made 360 mm and delivered from RUF. I think it's the same manufacturer. You ask if there is a big job to install? Yes and no. If you are lucky the new steering wheel will be in center when you driving straight. Then it's 20 minutes. If not, you have to correct this with a wheel alignment. I had to do that. You also need a PIWIS or Duametric SW to reset airbag foult codes after installing.
  3. I did it today on my 996tt. This is easy. 15 min on the first 10 min on second. I took the front wheel off and then the old duct with a title force. When you put the new on you have to take one hand on the top of the duct and the other on the lower part. Then force one hand to left and the other to right. Then there will be a big gap. You then place the duct on the control arm with the lower part of the duct first. Take care that the 2 locks has to be on the inner side of the control arm. Then you turn the duct so it lock correctly around the control arm. Secret is to widen the gap. Thats all. Hope this helps. NB! i had to take off 15 mm of the duct since there is no space between the duct and the brake (rotor). The rotor will face the duct when you turn the steering wheel

  5. I just finished installing PSS9 from FVD. After the install the car had considerable body roll. I went ahead and installed H&R bars front and rear. Front is 25mm and rear is 24mm. The big thing I noticed between the stock bars and H&R bars is the weight. The H&R bars are cosiderable heavier. So I think a combination of size and weight makes the bars work differently that stock bars. I am trying different setups on the shocks and bars now. I would recommend if the car is tracked that when one installs coilovers such as PSS9's that one also give seriouos consideration to bars as well. Now i have installed the OEM X75 bars front and rear. They are about 1 mm thicker that originals. Up to now i don't feel any difference from the originals. I will try the car on the track next week. Then i will have the verdict.
  6. Techart told me 530 is the limit.
  7. Thanks for very useful info. They checked this at Porsche today. They found out that the right strut not installed properly. When front wheels was in the air they turned the wheel left / right. On the right side the spring was not follow the support on top. That why it it makes noise. Left side seems OK. They have to remount this!
  8. I installed a new steering whel from Ruf. This is with F1 paddle shift and works much better than the stock. It gives a lot better control espesially on tracks. Some pictures:
  9. Thanks for the answer. Stock thrust bearing? Do you mean the bearing on the top of the springs facing the chassis? If so these are completely new. They were changed by Porsche and are stock. So it can not be this. But i have to say that this sound wasn't there before they changed this bearings ( they changed the bearings because they were worn out). I beleive that something has gone wrong when they put / installed the complete sping/damper back on. Rubber washer ? Is this something which is between the springs and the grey cup which the spring is resting against on top? I can only see that the spring is resting directly on this grey cup. And of couse this cup is moved as i turn the steering. I don't know if the spring i following this or if it's somethimes stucked? But i'm also pretty sure that this section in making the sound. What do you mean?
  10. I have Bilstein PSS9 installed in my 996TT. Now i have a strange sound in the front when i'm driving slow ( for example in parking places) and turning my steering. Like a crackle sound or bang. I have changed the bearings on the top of the suspension and also the ball joints on the trangles under the suspension but that did't help.
  11. I had a problem like this on my 996TT. The fault code was 5525 ( DME error code) and the PSM/ABS light went on. Everything was checked. MAF sensor, leaks, DVs. The end was that i had to have a new DME box. Then is was OK. Is this a tiptronic with modified ECU?
  12. Has anyone tried the OEM X75 sway bars together with PSS9 on the TT?
  13. Is this something i can fix by my self or is it a Porschezentrum job? If i need to take down the inner roof i don't intend to do it myself.
  14. On my car there is a clicking sound coming from the roof when i drive on bad roads. Are there any adjustments inside the roof or is it just to grease the sliding mechanism ? I beleive this is a common problem on the 996 tt.
  15. To my undertanding ('m not a mechanic) the communication beetween the MAF sensor are interupted or missing. As a warning the system then shut down the ABS and then PSM. Most probably in your case it is a bad MAF sensor (common problem). If not, i don't now ? Maybe leaks etc. as you can read above. If this happens only one time, i will not be worried. But my experience is that this kind of error messages show up time and again. On my car this is happening every time the boost hit 1 bar , 4-5000rpm, = full trottle. On "normal" driving there is not ABS/PSM light. On mine everything pointing in the direction corrupt ECU. But early next week i will know. Oh OK, its sort of like the only way the car can tell you the MAF is dodgy or hoses or DVs, i get it Thx for your post Have had a dodgy MAF with previous C4, interestingly came on during cold humid conditions too. I wasn't on boost at the time but cruising in 6th gear on Freeway at 100 kph Appreciate your input Hope yours gets sorted Plesase post how it all ends up, I might need to know All the best Andrew Problem solved. Installed new DME/ECU today. First test drive with original SW. Everything OK but only 0,7 bar on max but thats about normal i think. Then dumped the modified Sportec SW. NO ABS/PSM light. 1.1 bar and problem solved. The only light flashing was PSM because of wheelspin on dry road in 140 kmt :clapping:
  16. I have a minor change frotspoiler. This is a lip from Sportec , www.sportec.ch. My painter integrated it totally in the original front. This is how it looks.

  18. Thanks for the answer. They claim they have checked the intake system for leaks. No leaks found but DV were gone. DV was changed. MAF sensor changed 3 times Throttle jacking unit not checked, just calibrated. Maybe it need cleaning? Short circuit. Do you mean on the MAF connector wire? Anyway, just to eliminate. We will also change the gaskets to/from the intercoolers. Do you mean that the 5525 code is nothing to worry about and that this is not the couse for ABS/PSM lamp and that this is related to the P0103 MAF? Dealer just called me. They have strong belive that this error is coused by bad/corrupt ECU box. He advised me to try to change it since every other stone is turned. This will cost me around 900 euro but do i have any choice?

  20. First, thank for the answer. Well i don't know. First the official Porsche dealer ( were i bought the car. It's still under Porsche warranty) changed the MAF. Then another Porche dealer tried a new MAF again. Same 5525 and P0103 codes. I suppose they now the test procedure, or not ? But will the car work at all with the MAF disconneted? As i said, my car is working like normal until i accelerate hard. Then the codes above appear. Is it just to disconnect the MAF and take a test drive to see if the same happens?
  21. I have a 2001 996 turbo with 35 000 km. Ruf ex. and Sportec ECU (Tiptronic) After installation of Ruf exhaust and Sportec engine management i went 5000 km with no trouble. The car is running like h.... Max boost 1.1 bar. Then the CEL lamp started to light. MAF sensor was changed and everything was OK again. Then i discover under hard acceration (approx 1 bar 4- 5000 rpm in 3.,4.gear) that the ABS/PSM lamp went on. This was reset when i started the car again. First my dealer was assume air leaks in the pipes. No leakes were found but bad diverter valve. They were changed with newer type. ECU has also been reset and loaded with Sportec SW again. But still the ABS/PSM is lighten up. The faul codes is P0103 MAF sensor ( has been changed 3 times so this is not a real error) and 5525 Torque tranfer from DME disturbed at times. When it throw the 5525 code is seems to be a defect ECU box, or ??? Spoked to Techart. They told me i must have an air leak. Maybe in air hose into / from the intercoolers. The engine is running fine alle the time. Just my lack of ABS/PSM. This is really frustrating. Starting to take my sleep away. Any suggestions what to do next??? Any support will help a lot.. :clapping:
