  1. Your username does seem fitting, check my registry page for mods. I highly recommend the OBC hack, if you don't have the OBC. I wouldn't desnorkel but it is up to you. :D
  2. Hi, I am going to be doing a custom rear speaker job on my '99 Boxster. I was wondering if anyone knows the part numbers or more importantly where to get the rear speaker grills for the plastic box, and the brown speaker plug for the CDR-220 so I can connect the + / - for the two rear speakers. I am just going to wire up some old speakers in the cubbies and I just need these parts to make the job look nice and work properly. Thanks! -Rick :D
  3. You cannot control an iPod with the Becker head unit. Your best bet is to get the becker aux input cable, and an iPod RCA and power cable off of ebay then with the RCA cables to the AUX input and the power to the becker phone cable. For more detail check out my Registry hack.
  4. Thanks everyone for all the help, I got the hardtop back safely and the stand did in fact fit into the rear trunk.
  5. Hi, I have been trying to update my registry entry for a while now, and it won't update. I do not know what it is but maybe you guys can fix it. Thanks! :renntech:
  6. I got it, the spinlocks weren't in correctly, and I had to tap and drill into the passenger side to remove the stripped bolt.
  7. Okay, I just got my box back from the shop and decided to install the spinlocks. I got the fittings in and everything, but I have one problem. I cannot get the bolts in all the way. They stick out about 1/4" on each side. I am using a socket wrench, and I twist the lever and push on the back but it keeps coming out of the bold. I don't want to strip the screw, so I am not sure what I should do. Any suggestions? Thanks! :help:
  8. I got the spin locks and the car should be ready today. I called the guy I am buying it from, and he asked if I wanted the hardtop stand. I said yes. Assuming it is the base porsche stand, will it fit in one of the trunks? Thanks!
  9. That Sucks! At least you aren't hurt. I would just lay it down with the insurance company. Show them the bill for the car wash, engine, everything and the dates. They won't be able to argue with that, then take some pics of the interior to prove that it was immaculate and you want the exact same.
  10. I believe the odometer is separate from the speedo. Also, I would not trust a radar gun or a police sign because they need frequent re-calibrations.
  11. I wouldn't, because who knows is a 996 door will fit a boxster. Also, the airbag could have gone of, the inside could be wrecked, and the structural integrity of the door could be compromised. Wht do you need to replace the door, anyway?
  12. That would be a very custom job and I doubt you will be able to find one. I have seen car shaped mice but never specific to a certain car. I could go buy a mouse and a model car and mount them together some way, but it wouldn't be very comfortable.
  13. Mine shows almost exactly 3mph over what my actual speed is. Possibly it is a ploy by porsche to keep porsche drivers from getting a reputation for speeding tickets.
  14. Thank you very much, I think it might fit in my jeep. Hopefully I will have the boxster back in time though.
  15. Hi, I just bought a hardtop from a guy, and I will be driving to pick it up next week. The problem is that my car is currently in the shop and I may not have it back in time to drive 8 hours to get the top. I have a '99 Grand Cherokee, and am wondering whether or not it will fit in the car, or on the roof. This is a last resort, but I want to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Does anyone have the dimensions of the 986 hardtop? Also, any tips on transporting it? I cannot delay my pickup date, so I have to figure something out. Any ideas? Thanks! :)
  16. I wave to other Porsche's, there aren't many in my area and most of them wave back. Occasionally, I get a weird look instead of a wave because the 50+ year old guy is shocked to see a younger guy in a Porsche. The one car I consider over my Boxster was a Mini Cooper S, only because of the atmosphere. Every single mini owner waves to other mini owners, occaionally, they will come an cruise next to you. P-Car owners should be more like that.
  17. Why does the wire have to be 130mm? I follow the hack, and it looks like it is easy to do but I do not understand why the wire needs to be cut to 130mm, or only have 130mm exposed outside the foam wrap. Wouldn't more wire being exposed extend the range?. Thanks!
  18. I called them, and they can order it but they are not sure if it is gloss or matte. Does anyyone know if the FWL switch with the part number #996.613.980.00 is gloss or matte? Thanks!
  19. They don't have it but I will call them.
  20. Thanks! But, Where can I get a FWL Switch???
  21. So if I use the FWL switch for the OBC hack. Will the light on the side of it light up? Where can I get a FWL switch in gloss? Thanks!
