  1. I have a 2002 Boxster with an aging o2 sensor that periodically causes the check engine light to come on. I've used my Durametric tool to reset the error code several times. I will eventually get around to replacing the post-cat o2 sensor, but I'm curious as to how the ECU adapts to the signal. Is there any effect on performance?
  2. Great looking, but they are priced almost twice competing skirts...
  3. Has anyone on this board had any experience with the Schnell performance muffler and/or headers for the Boxster? I'm interested in your thoughts on the equipment quality, muffler sound and any other performance issues. I'm looking for a good value. Thanks for your help.
  4. That's a very good list. I'll skip ahead to the "take a shower" part.
  5. A while back I had a check engine light come on. The OBD showed an aging o2 sensor. I reset the computer to suppress the check engine light for the o2 reading. Question - does the ECU adjust the fuel mix / etc.. based on the aging o2 sensor reading? The car has seemed a bit sluggish lately.
  6. What sizes do you have on your vehicle (in the picture)? I'm thinking 18 or 23 on the back with my stock rims.
  7. I'm planning to add wheel spacers to my front and back wheels. Has anyone had used either the H&R Trak+ wheel spacers or the Weltmeister Turbo Star spacers? Any preferences?
  8. Just installed jumpers between fuse 6 and 9. The headlights come with the key. I works fine - If I get tired of it, I'll change it back. Done.
  9. Is there any downside to the common Boxster hack that turns on the headlights when you turn on the car? The hack uses simple fuse box jumpers
  10. I'm considering adding wheel spacers to give the car a little more aggressive appearance. I have a two questions that I need some help with. If I keep my current 17" stock wheels, could adding spacers cause the tires to rub, or would it have no effect? For those of you with 17" stock wheels, what size spacers have you added front and rear? If I go up a size to 18" wheels, is there any downside to adding spacers that are larger than required? For those of you that have added 911 style 18" wheels, what size spacers did you add? Did you add a larger spacer than required? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  11. With about 40% destined for US markets, that translates into about 8,000 per year or 80,000 over the last ten years.
  12. Check postion 11 in the code S = Stuttgart, Germany U = Uusikaupunki, Finland
  13. I bought a used hardtop last weekend. I bought the spin locks and bolts from Suncoast the day afterward and the parts were delivered yesterday. I spent about an hour installing the spinlocks and used the instructions from this site. The top went on smooth and tight with no apparent gaps. It looks like a totally different car.
  14. Just got the shifter button on. The solution was the same as for a number of other Boxster issues --- brute force. A small rubber mallet did the job.
  15. I just completed the install of a new silver center console. It looks great. Everything came out of the car easily including the tiptronic button and shifter cover. I just put everything back on -- went great with one exception. I'm having a hell of a time getting the tiptronic button back on. I've slid the vertical shifter cover back on, place the cllip and spring back on, but I can't quite get the button cover to go on. So here are my questions -- 1) First -- To put the button cover back on, does the key have to be turned on? Does your foot have to be on the brake to make the button engage (go down)? 2) At what angle does the button cover have to be pushed down to reinstall - straight, angled? Also, does the spring have to be compressed before pushing the button down to the seated position? 3) Also, below the tiptronic shifter cover (says P-R-N-D etc.) there is a spring device with a triangular piece of plastic that spins freely -- does this have to positioned in any specific direction? At this point, I can't get the button to reinstall. I already have the instructions out of the manual and off this site, but those instructions provide a very simple and incomplete explanation. Any advice would be appreciated.
  16. Try using brown/amber sunglass lenses. That helped in my car.
  17. I saw this spoiler on a Boxster site and I was wondering who in the US makes this style. Anyone know?
  18. Thanks. The adventure continues tomorrow.
  19. I have a 2002 Boxster and I changed out my headlights last weekend with clear 2003 Boxster headlights. They slid in nicely, work well and look great. I have one problem though - I can't get the lights to "lock" into place. The service manual suggests that they "click", but I've turned the locking screw each direction many times and can't get them to stay in place. For now I'm holding the lights into place by keeping the allen wrenchs tight in place. This makes me a little nervous. Now for my three questions (and the service manual is no help with these) - (1) How far should the locking unit be turned to lock the headlights? (2) What direction should the locking unit be turned to lock the headlights? (3) What "fix" should be used if the headlights just won't lock in? Please provide any additional thoughts. This simple little job has me pulling my hair out.
  20. I purchased a used 2002 Boxster and I am considering replacing or resurfacing the center console because of rough patches and wear on the center console driver side. How difficult is it to remove the console? Has anyone purchased a stock console to replace a console? Has anyone painted a console? How did you prepare the console for painting? Did you have issues with rough areas? I'm considering purchasing the artic silver paint and applying that and a sealer to the console. I'd appreciate any advice or war stories on this.
