  1. I'll do that and post it tonight It's a little lower then manufacturers stamp/name (behind the hoses). Oddly the 3rd hose (bottommost one of the 3 had no clamps on it). Jim
  2. I'm trying to track down a slow coolant leak. While looking at the tank (nothing was jumping out at me) I was able to read the small part number ;) 996.106.047.08. It appears my was changed "recently". I wonder if that's latest revision of this part.
  3. Post your request in the pinned thread above. ;)
  4. Maurice, It's a Mastercraft set sold by Canadian Tire (up here north of the 49th :) ). I've never looked but I would think that you could find a similar set or even more of a complete set (a bigger range of bits) online. I would google "torx security bits". As a side note. I would avoid non-brand named stuff. Sloppy toleranced stuff can lead to rounded slots in the bolt head. Not fun considering how tight the work area is. Jim Jim: What brand of tool is that? Is it available on the internet? Regards, Maurice.
  5. I answered my own question. The vent/molding is separate from the grill. For some reason I had always thought it was a one piece deal. I took some pictures of the grill showing the 3 struts and a couple shots of the backside of the vent if anyone is interested.
  6. This works like a charm to remove the 4 bolts holding the TB. It's just over 3" long. As for getting the Tube from the box to the TB off, it helped having the car warm to remove it and I found having a third hand was a snap to pop that sucker back onto the TB. Jim
  7. Would any one have a picture of the side vent from behind?. Specifically one from an 02. I've been probing with my fingers but i'm not able to locate the 3 tabs. There is a fair bit of foam in there and I can't tell if the tabs are forward of the foam or behind it. Thanks, Jim
  8. With so many spelling errors in his ad, I wouldn't trust it. Chances are it's some more asian junk.
  9. That's what i've seen Loren. Jim Last time I ordered a -01 cap I got an -02 cap. The package still said -01.
  10. Also, with a bad cap you'd likely see moisture around or above the cap. It's seems to me that i've seen a picture of an .02 cap though my memory isn't what it used to be
  11. I think the PSE looks slightly nicer on Speed Yellow than my Basalt Black. (though I do suffer from a mild case of Speed Yellow envy) ;)
  12. You get what you pay for. In tires, going cheap isn't the wisest move. (my 2cents) OHTA, Japan--Okamoto Industries Ltd. has sold its minority stake in Michelin Okamoto Tire Corp. to Groupe Michelin, giving the French firm 100-percent control of the company. Michelin Okamoto has been a joint venture of both companies since 1988. Okamoto owned 10 percent of the venture, in which Michelin has increased its share steadily over the years. Michelin paid $45.8 million for the remaining share. The deal includes rights to the Riken brand. Michelin Okamoto operates one tire plant in Ohta, where it produces Michelin, BFGoodrich and Riken passenger and light truck tires for the ...
  13. A lot of them don't do a d_mn thing for horsepower from what I understand, some make it worse. There are cheap dyi mods that will make all the racket you want...see Pedro At Pedro garage or find hm on PPBB. Regards, PK :clapping: "all the racket you want". You should trademark that phrase. Jim
  14. Always use jack stands in pairs (safety first always). 2 -3 tons will be fine and a good quality lift. Don't work on your brakes etc using the carjack. It's just not stable enough, again, safety first. Buying inexpensive equipment will give you, well, inexpensive stuff. I prefer to spend the money when i'm under a car. Be sure to match the stand height to the jack height eg the jack being able to raise 1'' higher than the height of the stands. You don't want to find out later that you maxed the height stands/jack and then can't get your car off the stands lol. You can "juryrig" lots of things using wood but i was never comfortable doing so. Ramps are ok when you block the wheels. I always found they are a bit trickier to use, they can slide ahead when trying to get on them, driving off the backs (ask me how i know) stuff like that. The car of course has to be drivable. :-) They won't do you much good when you want to do brake/wheel work however. These are just my personal opinions man, and many people will have a different view. Jim
  15. I'm not familiar with that brand of antifreeze, i assume it's silciate free. The antifreeze/distilled water is a "lifetime" deal. You don't mention using distilled water. For what it's worth, you'll want a 50/50 mix, the higher antifreeze content 55percent+ will start to reduce the quality of heat transfer.
  16. Are the NGK BKR6EIX plugs a good choice for a 02 box S? Is the serp belt measurements 13/16" x 83-3/4" ? Thanks guys
  17. Would a 3.5"- 14.5" 1.5 Ton Aluminum jack be suitable for our 986s?
