  2. sounds like changing my cap ending in 00 is the way to go-thanks
  3. Loren, i take it you have do not have any traces of antifreeze fumes? could it be that the overflow has dripped on to hot parts in the engine compartment and any old residue would reactivate odors everytime it gets hot??
  4. was that smell you discovered only when warm or after a cold start? i have had a smell on cold starts, and there has been alot of residue along the top of the coolant overflow tank (WHITE COLOR) the coolant level hasnt dropped below minimum but it definately doesnt smell like oil. thanks pj
  5. thanks for the tip, i remember reading that there is a small bag f stoppers included. Looks like these were both pre-installed and just remove the proper one. Thats a great link for the install-thanks Heres my 2 cent contribution. Use a 5 gallon bucket to hold up the door panel while woking(keeps it clean)
  6. hi there!!! i just installed a new window regulator on a 99c2cab. it was noisy and i replaced it according to the helpful posts found here. everything went back as it should except for the window not rolling down the last inch into the door pocket. it closes correctly and is alligned when the door is closed. What did i forget? thanks pjg
  7. Hi guys, my MY99c2cab windows have squeeked for months. today the passenger window sounds like it knocking when the motor goes up and down. the symptoms fall right in line with the stuff described above. My question is if the biniding or fraying cable snaps, will the window be stuck in the postion or will it drop in the track? thanks PJ
  8. thanks for the update, ill pull the bushings out and check them out. for now i pulled the fuse, looks like im not the only one with the problem in the past. thanks
  9. Hi All, something strange happening on my MY99C2 Cab. This past week and very very intermitantly, my horn sounds when i come to a hard stop. Usually these stops are for avoiding something on the road. If i try to induce the sound by slamming on the brakes on a empty street to diagnose the problem...its ok. No work has been done to modify the brakes or horn. The only electrical work was for you basic stereo replacement with an additional amplifier in the trunk. Thanks for the input
  10. ive been developing a sound similar to a "movie attic door creeking" while turning the wheel at stopped or rolling speeds. i kept the car running and turned the drivers wheel with my hands and induced the noise. ps fluid? or nothing to worry about MY99C2cab-thanks PJ
  11. clutch was shot and had the RMS replaced. thanks for all the info and pricing comparisons. car is running excellent
  12. appreciate it. i havent bled the clutch fluid but from the slipping that happened after the pedal dropped, the disc maybe out. thanks
  13. looks like my clutch may be out on my MY99c2cab. the pedal has been stiff for a little while and while driving the other day, the pedal wouldnt come back up all the way. just want to make sure there is nothing i can try before bringing it in. Anything worth checking for DIY? thanks pj
  14. hey everybody the top has been working good since, but i notice the flaps have been slow if not opened can closed for a few days. dirty rails?separate resevoir? also, my top will not function with the switch. i did try it with the door key and that works. all your hear is a click from the top when using the switch. the parking light brake is off when its up but turns all the lights/bulbs work before starting thanks pj
  15. Happy new year all! It sounds like I have developed a ne noise under the front of the car by the front wheels. MY99 C2cab when rolling on driveway and parking lot speeds, make a knocking/rattling noise by the wheels. My passenger felt it somewhere along the floorpan. The lugs are torqued and the shock towers cant be jiggled by had when car is jacked in the air. The noise comes and goes and some times more noisy obviouly when bumpy. Sorry for the vaugeness but hopefully someone out there can relate. Car has 71k on it. Thanks in advance!!! PJ
  16. thanks izzy, thats exactly what the solution was. the resevoir was 1/2 empty and after filling it... opening and closing a few times got it sounding good and moving quick. appreciate the advice paul
  17. ]MY99 c2 cab top has started just started to move very slow and make loud whining noises while operating. The windows operate at good speed and side flaps appear normal too. The deck lid and top opening and closing is where it seems to be the loudest and slowest. its almost as if something is putting a heavy strain on the mechanism. The top does operate from start to finish and vicde versa however much slower that in te past Id appreciate any advice or experience in this...can this be fixed DIY? Thanks-Pj
  18. i finally removed the ICV and cleaned it as well as the butterfly. I did notice though that the valve on the ICV had a gap big enough to insert a flathead screwdriver through it. When do you know to replace rather than clean? Seemed to be ok, only driving the car frequently wil tell. thanks for the help on this one
  19. do cleaning the icv and throttle body actually require removing a lot of components, or can any of this be clean just by remoing the air box?
  20. hey guys, my 99 c2 cab has started to randomly stall immediately after starting. the engine has been warmed but its too random to describe any other symptoms. all i can say is after trying to start it again, its appears to be fine. the car just had its 60k major service done and a recent alternator repair... ive seen a few owners that had been recommended to clean the throttle body...i would appreciate the feedback.
