  1. Here's what I would like to do if any of you radio experts can help: I want to change out my existing Becker unit for one that accepts XM and an iPod without broadcasting thru an unused FM station. I also want to retain and use my CD changer. Am I asking too much or is there a unit that is compatible with the Porsche CD changer and has capabilities for an iPod and XM radio? This is for my '02 996TT TIA.
  2. I had the same problem with ABS/PSM lights. However, my mind went into panic mode because I chipped my TT and those lights also come on when the MAF sensor goes bad. I did not notice any performance problems, so I thought it might be a wheel sensor. Took it to the dealer and it turned out to be the ABS module. Car was tied up for four days. Module replaced and no lights since.
  3. I know this has been covered before, but I cannot find any relevant posts using the "search" tool. The sun roof on my '02 996TT is opening and closing at a snail's pace. The auto open/close feature does not work because of the resistance. Since I'm going out of town tomorrow afternoon, I do not have time to take it to the dealer. Will any of you experts be so kind as to go thru the procedure about how to lube the sun roof cables. Is there anything that must be taken apart, or can I lube the exposed cables on each side? Thanks.
  4. Porsche's oil consumption policy is one qt every 600 miles. Technically, you are outside the window of alarm. However, oil usage depends on how hard you run the car. If your foot is in it most of the time, you will use more oil. 1000 miles per qt is not too bad. Consumption may improve as the car accumulates mileage. I use about a qt/2000 miles, but I drive like an old man and the car has 17,000 miles. Initially, my oil consumption was a lot higher than now.
  5. My dealer charges over $8/qt and they get over $200 for an oil change and $400 for a 15K checkup. I bought the same oil for $5/qt and ordered the filter and removal tool from Sunset in Oregon. Max cost to me is about $60. All you need is a container large enough to hold 8.5 quarts of used oil and a place to get rid of it. I realize that dealers need to make a profit, but that is rediculous.
  6. If you are uncomfortable with the sound, like Don suggested, call Joe Fabiani. He's a good guy and will listen to your problem. I never had anything like what you describe. I really enjoyed my Fabspeeds. When I got rid of the car, I sold them to a good friend and he likes them as well.
  7. I bought a Sony cartridge from Crutchfield. It fits the Becker unit. Sony Compact Disc Magazine part #XA-T6 Think I paid about $30 two years ago.
  8. I put Fabspeeds on my '00 Carrera. Loved the sound. Did not experience a different sound coming from each muffler. It may be the muffler or it may be the catalytic converter changing the sound. Wouldn't worry too much about it. The "boom you are hearing at 2-3,000 rpms is resonance. Fabspeeds are famous for it and I had it on mine. Just a matter of acclimating to the sound.
