  3. Hi, The leather on my seats (black interior) are beginning to crack a little on the head rest. Any one know what my options are on repairing it or should I just get new seats? Thanks, Raymond
  4. I couldn't pry out the exhaust after unbolting the flange so instead I tried to polish the exhaust while still attached to the car. I first used 600 grit sandpaper with "Mother's Chrome Polish", then 800, then 1500 to finish. I then used a 10" buffer (used for waxing) to finish it off with 1 coat of Chrome polish and 1 coat of wax. This doesn't look as good as removing it and using a drill attachment but it's a good alternative for people that don't have a drill and can't remove the exhaust.
  5. When you removed the muffler, was there a gasket you had to replace? Did you notice any exhaust leaks?

  7. Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll hold off for a while. 20 HP would be a more realistic gain from a ECU upgrade compared to 30. Does your car pass smog with all those mods + the chip upgrade?
  8. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Supposedly with this chip upgrade, it gives you an additional 30 hp on a 996.
  9. I've been using Zymol wax for 7 years now. So far so good, always kept my cars shinny. This wax is much thicker then most wax and seems to last longer. I see it at dealerships alot but you can find it cheaper at Pep Boys or Kragen.
  10. I had a bad experience with Carlsen, I went to Rector in Burlingame and they had superior customer service and the service writer was alot more knowledgable.
  11. I just finished changing my plugs, man what a pain in the rear but there is no better feeling then finishing the job. Here's a few pointers that helped me. 1. grease up the other end of the spark plug (only the part that makes contact with the socket), this way your spark plug socket does not get stuck onto the plug. 2. I used many small extensions to get to the plugs. I would get 1 part of the extension in the space first, and then I would get another extension into the small space and then connect it while i"m in the small space. For me, this was the easiest approach. There are alot of other ways to do it but this was the easiest for me. Good luck!!!
  12. I know this is a little late to reply to this forum but as people always say, better late then never... I have the exact same problem using NERO (many different versions even the new version 7.1) to encode my CD's. The fix is to use another software. I'm currently using Easy CD-DA Extractor 10 (Professional). You can find it here, http://www.poikosoft.com/ After trying the newly created Audio CD using that program, the same songs sound 100x better (no skips, no hisses, and best part of all, much better audio quality). I hope this helps anyone that runs into the exact same problem.

Hi, I was thinking about installing an aftermarket Kenwood MP3 deck in my 99 Carrera and I stumbled upon this wiring diagram. http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/1906.html So far, I figured out how to remove the 2 verticle pieces (left and right of the CD 220 deck) but I can't seem to figure out how to remove the rest. Do you guys have any pointers or additional documents I can reference to for further instructions? Thanks, Raymond
  14. Yes, that comments is from the older air cooled Porsche's with a separate oil tank. In the current version cars only GT2, GT3, and TT have a separate oil tank to drain. But that is covered here in the DIY sections. Thanks!!!
  15. Hi, I heard there is an addital plug / bolt (besides the oil pan drain plug), you need to unscrew in order to get the oil to drain down to the secondary tank? Is this the case or are they referring to older porsches? (I have a 99 Carrara RWD) Thanks, Raymond
