  1. First check fuse. 30 amp i think #13. If thats ok, On soft top header insert straight screw driver into access holes and tighten both sides. You may remove panel( 2 screws and clips) for easier access. Tighten till gears move. Then try switch again. Make sure Ebrake is on
  2. Did you ever find this part number and price? They cost around $800.00 each. 1 cylinder fits both side.... no right or left.....what a surprise :D
  3. With these unreliable power tops, I would never use the smart system
  4. The window (oem top) is zipped in then heat sealed to top with specialtool from porsche. very difficult to do. Window, which has 2 zippers one for top and 1 for headliner, costs about $800.00 oem. not available aftermarket. Usually whin plastic cracks, top is shot. Check below rear bow for wear marks ect. before you waste $$$$ on window. I only use GAHH tops.
  5. I charge $525.00 parts and labor to replace window in New Jersey.
  6. The cables are on the right and left side holding rear bow seal to edge of lid. Perhaps the bow straps have pulled through the rivits. The tension cables will not effect closing in front because thd lid will hold it back
  7. I install 993 tops using GAHH German canvas in New Jersey. I charge $1900.00 installed plus tax and shipping.
  8. Stan's Auto top installs these tops in New jersey. 973-635-3443
  9. The only tension cables hold rear trim stick. They are not adjustable. Only the hydraulic cylinders make top go up and down. I have replaced both cylinders due to leaking.
  10. If robbins is still having problems with their delaminating, I'll bet easy on will too. I only use A5 on the Boxster and 996,997. The other material stretches too much imop.
  11. If you had to add fluid, perhaps the cylinders are leaking.
  12. Hello, Go to a body shop and get a mini clip. I recently replaced the complete assembly because that hook broke and part did not come with that clip.
  13. Hello, I install these tops in New Jersey. Perhaps on front motor assembly. There are 2 plastic covers that are removed to access bolts. Tap on them if loose, remove and place small dab of butyl tape and reinstall. Butyl tape is used to install windshields. Also, under headliner there are metal and plastic clips used to fasten headliner to frame. They may be loose or missing. Try tightening torx bolts attaching weatherstrip rails to frame.
  14. Thanks Loren for the electrical diagram. Has anyone replaced a control unit for a convertible top for a 1997 993 or similar vehicle. I am wondering if it is a plug in type of unit or if it has to be programed using the Porsche computer diagnostic system. Local dealer charged my friend ~$275 to diagnosed the problem and has quoted ~$700 for the control unit for the convertible top plus installation. It can be bought through Sunset Porsche for $380. If it is just a plug in type of unit it should be simple to change. Anyone have any experience with 993 convertible tops? Dave T It is a plug in unit under dash on driver side. pia to get to though. I install tops in N.J. and also repair top frames and trouble shoot complete power top.
  15. Try GAHH.com I have install many tops in New Jersey. A few glass conversions. The headliner must be replaced. The glass is somewhat smaller than the plastic. They had some delaminatiog issues but have since resolved the issue. 862-222-4618
  16. GAHH.com makes tops with glass window. I have installed a few of them in New Jersey. The glass is considerly smaller and the headliner must be replaced at the same time. They had some delaminating issues but have since overcome them
