  1. I know the PID is programmed, hence the reason to ask what it is. Most OBD apps for mobile phones let you enter the Custom PID to read using that PID. If the PID is not already in the list of PIDs your app is querying, you will have to add it manually so it can query that PID and display the info.
  2. Bought LELink Bluetooth LE 4.0+ module which works with EngineLink and OBD Fusion for iOS. It seems to work fine, but it is not reading transmission oil temperature for the 2004 CS. Does anyone know the custom PID that I can add to the app to read the transmission oil temperature?
  3. The only error code was P0011 which is for the camshaft position sensor in most cases. Replacing both or one of the two sensors usually resolves it. But the maintenance is more of a "fix it before it breaks", rather than "if it ain't broken, don't fix it".
  4. I decided to do the 160k service at 155k miles. I think after 100k miles, most of the items from the list should be done more often (every 20k to 30k), rather than 50-60k. Off course engine oil, and air filters should be changed more often (10k) Following is what I just did: Air filters replaced (Mann) Oil and oil filter replaced (Redline 04-40, Mann) Cabin filter replaced (Mann Ferocious) Plugs (Bosch OEM) Front and rear diff oil replaced (Redline 75W90, Original Porsche replacement drain plugs) Transfer case oil replaced (Redline D4 ATF, Original Porsche replacement drain plugs) Front brake and rotors replaced (not 160k service, but was needed) (Pagid Brakes and Rotors with new OEM hardware kit, new rotor screws, new sensors Front wheel bearings replaced Cleaned Throttle Body and replaced the gasket (Throttle Body Cleaner and Porsche Gasket) Inspected Serpentine belt (looks good) In a couple of weeks: Replace coils (all 8 were cracked when I replaced the plugs) Transmission Oil, filter, pan gasket, filter gasket, drain plug, pan bolts (All original Porsche parts, Toyota Type T-IV oil, would using RL D4 ATF be risky considering high miles and seals not being exposed to full synthetic oil? Also, the transmission fluid and filter were never replaced, yes I know, a big mistake) Hydraulic Fluid Reservoir replacement (Original Porsche, with Pentosin CHF202, how much oil do I need?) Fuel filter replacement (Siemens VDO OEM) Torque Strut mount (original is completely worn out, replacing bushings from ECS) Hydraulic Engine mounts and transmission mount (Lemforder or OEM?) Any other recommendations? Thanks
  5. Thank you Loren. By OEM, do you mean Beru? Or Genuine Porsche? I assume Beru coils have been revised as well if they are identical.
  6. This might be a dumb question, but I noticed that Audi R8 Coil Packs (06E905115EKT, made by Bremi?) are compatible with a lot of VW/Audi models. Considering I know nothing about coil packs besides the fact that they generate enough volts to make the plugs spark, and considering the number of things common between Touareg/Q7 and Cayenne, does anyone know if R8 coil packs or 2011+ MY Cayenne coil packs are compatible with Cayenne MY 2003-2008? They look very similar in terms of physical aspects, but don't know if they generate the same voltage and have same resistance (Ohms, or is resistance boot based?) and or if circuit board inside them will make OBD throw up a code due to misfire. Any other recommendations, Bremi, Bosch?
  7. Reza. Thanks a lot for detailed reply and for providing the links. I am getting the coolant pipes replaced next week and in the mean time I am trying to minimize the driving. Glad to know that I don't have to worry about T-pipe although the repair shop mentioned that they will replace breather element at the same time as it is near the pipes so they might as well do that. Is there anything else that should be replaced while this work is perfomed? Thanks
  8. Hello Paki Munda My suggestions: Get Porsche Club membership so you can get 10% discounts on parts and labor. Call Sunset Porsche at http://www.sunsetimports.com/ and buy parts from them. I don't think you will find it cheaper anywhere else. Take the parts to your local trsuted Porsche repair shop and get it repaired. The cost is estimated at around $1500 without PCA membership discount from a porsche dealer (varies from state to state) and it takes 10-12 hours of labor. Good luck!
  9. I have an 04 Cayenne S and about a couple of months ago the water pump was replaced. After a week, I had a low coolant indicator on. Took it to the dealership repair shop and was told that there is a leak from some plastic housing for coolant under the engine which has a crack and Porsche now replaces it with a metal part. The cost involved is around $2000 to fix it as it involves putting the car on the jack and removing parts from underside to get to it and parts costs around $800. This discussion seems to point to the same problem, but I am not sure as there are mention of both aluminum and plastic parts (plastic T) where as I have been told that the part that has a crack is plastic and will be replaced with a metal one. Can someone confirm if there is more than coolant pipes and plastic T joint to worry about? Also, has anyone tried to do it? How difficult will it be if it is DIY? TIA
  10. Hello I have an 04 CS and the drive shaft needs replacement. Since you had it replaced without warranty, I was wondering if you can provide me the dealer name and number who replaced it for free. Thanks Danish
  11. Hi everyone I am thinking about purchasing the new 08 CS but at the same time interested in used Cayenne Turbo. Any recommendations and suggestions? Thanks Dan
  12. I got a reply from them about Bluetooth kit to be out early 2008 (no specific dates though). Thanks Dan
  13. I got a reply from them about Bluetooth kit to be out early 2008 (No specific dates though). I am waiting for it:) Thanks Dan ive had the nav-tv unit, had it replaced a few times before finally tossing it. have the mobridge unit now.....SO much better than the nav tv unit. clear crisper sound, more songs listed per page (i think its around 99 as opposed to 20 or 30 on the navtv unit), and no hang ups so far. navtv unit kept freezing, not being recognized, etc etc etc etc etc etc.... i LOVE the mobridge unit ! Any word on bluetooth for the mobridge unit yet? That would make it even more appealing.
  14. I am totally against paying extra for something that is no reasonable) I am not saying that you pay more to Porsche, what I meant was that if they are willing to offer something better, people will probably pay for it if it is not too much. And I did mentionsee that they don't use best parts all the time. And yes business has to make money as well. I have been looking for mods for my Cayenne S as well as you probably know since you answered some of my questions, but not all mods are as good they sound, and even if they are, not always, but sometimes there is a compromise for it. For K&N filters, the compromise could be engine life, and for irridium spark plugs, it could be something else. So you just have to decide what you are willing to compromise if any. I think Porsche deliver thier cars with a lot of compromises, some for business reasons (no demand, or market value), some for technical reasons (meaning it is not going to help technically or it is not possible), or both (where technically it is possible, but biz perspective does not make sense). Just make sure your car does not get hurt due to techincal ones. Thanks Dan
  15. I considered K&N filter as well, but decided to stay away after reading a lot about these filters. I decided to change filter more often as the OEM filters are not that expensive. IMHO, stay away from filters like K&N mainly because based on my understanding, K&N might increase the dust flowing in which will cause more wear in the future. If you remove the air filter, you may see the power increase, but obviously air filter is required, so how else do you increase air flowing in? Well, one way is to block less air, which in return may bring more dust. I think that engineers at Porsche know about different types of filters and know how to increase power (power is the war among car manufacturers these days:)) without affecting anything else. I know that a lot of times they have to make adjustments or compromise for an average driver and city conditions. If they wanted, they could have either created or installed K&N or similar filter in their $60k+ cars (as the cost of the filter is negligible compared to the car cost, and increasing $100 car price would not affect customers from purchasing it), but they must have considered other factors like engine life, reliability, performance, maintenance, etc (I am not saying that they use the best parts all the time, yes there are parts that can be changed to increase life, reliability, and performace but not always do those parts work well enough and not all those performance parts reduce reliability either). Also, for racing car filters, you don't have to worry about engine life as you want to get the max performace and driving it for a few hours may not kill the engine due to the filter whereas in our daily driving, we need more reliability and longer engine life yet, we need performance and driving fun. That is what Porsche delivers. Again, just my opinion, and I am sure a lot of people will agree and disagree, and I welcome all comments/suggestions as I want to learn more:) Thanks Dan
  16. I have 19 inch OEM wheels without TPM in my Cayenne S. Is is possible to add TPM sensors and enable TPM in the instrument cluster without changing wheels? If it is not possible to add the sensors, can the wheels with TPM sensors be installed to enable TPM in Instrument Cluster? Thanks Dan
  17. As mudman pointed out, mObridge will have a solution in late october/november time frame that will allow both mp3/ipod and bluetooth phone connection with integration to car's oem steering wheel controls. That might be the only device I will need to connect my new ATT Tilt (WM6 based phone) to my Cayenne S and use both the phone and the multimedia at the same time. I can't wait for this. Thanks again mudman for pointing it out. This is a great forum! Thanks Dan
  18. Thanks for the information. Do you know by any chance what it will be called or if it will be available to consumers directly? From what I understand from mObridge website is that they don't sell to end users (consumers), they sell to resellers only. Also, will I need Parrot CK3100 instead of CK3000? I am going to purchase the kit probably over the weekend. Thanks Dan
  19. Thanks for the information. I will stay away from the built in phone support and will probably install a US Version of PCM 2.0. I will upload the details once done.
  20. Were you able to connect the phone to that connector and if so, how did you do it? Did you need any connector? Thanks Dan
  21. So can a Euro 2.0 be installed in o4 Cayenne and be able to use the SIM functionality? Thanks Dan
