  1. I need to replace my coolant tank as mine has a minor leak. Just pricing things out and I notice the expansion tank for a 2001 is about half the price as the ones listed for the 1999. They look the same to me in the pictures. Just a thought before I order.
  2. Thanks guys, Found a huge vacuum leak at the AOS. I fixed that and reset the codes again. Car runs perfect now, no more codes.
  3. I have ran some checks with the Durametric and got a bunch of codes again 0319,0318,0316,0317,0300,0301,0302,0303,0313,0130,0314. I checked the cam deviation and bank 1 is 0 deg. Bank 2 is 3 deg. The timing shows 5-11 deg at idle and 27 deg at 2000 rpm. This should mean that the timing is OK shouldnt it? I did however notice that when I take the oil cap off there is no suction what so ever. Is it possible i knocked something loose on the AOS that would cause all these codes? The car had lots of suction and a noticable drop on RPM when I removed the oil cap before I did the engine work.
  4. I just got my '99 all back together after changing out the IMS bearing and clutch. I checked timing on the cam shaft ends by marking them and turning the engine 360 degres, everything lined back up. So i fired up the car which ran really rough at first then leveled out. After about 5 min of idling the car started to missfire and almost stall out. I checked the codes and got the 0300 missfire codes for every cylinder. Could the timing have jumped on start up? I did remove all three tensioners when I did the bearing change, and locked the IMS with allen screws (as per Pelican tech article.) I also had the air box off in my shop for about a week which may have got some dust on the MAF.
  5. The drivers door on my 1999 seems like it's getting harder to shut properly. You have to almost "slam" the door for it to properly close. Everything lines up fine when it is shut, but I did notice that the door has alot of play in it when you lift up on the door when it is open. It looks like the play is in the hinge pins. After looking in the service manual it doesnt show any bushings that can be replaced. Is there actually bushings, or can the hinge pins be replaced? I have tried to do some searching but cant find any pins or hinge parts whatsoever. The passanger door has no play in it at all, while the drivers side moves at least 1/2".
  6. I have my sport seats out of my MY99 996 and want to remove the hard plastic back to paint. Does anyone have any information on taking these seats apart? Also I can't get the passenger seat to "flip up" to get to the back seats, I think something has come undone or broke inside of the seat back.
  7. Old plugs looked fine when I removed them. I also checked the new plugs again and re tightened, still look brand new.
  8. I have a '01 Boxster with 62,000 miles. I let a friend take it for a drive and when he came back he said it was making a "poping" noise. I took the car out and it sounds like its missing or almost a small backfire noise coming from the rear passenger side. It only does it when the car is under load and when downshiffting at higher RPMs I have recently changed the plugs and AOS. I looked under the car and tigtned everything up on the exhaust system and still noise. I even ran a bottle of Redline fuel sysem cleaner through the tank. I have no CEL and no codes on the reader. The car still seems to have lots of power. Today I now noticed a whine almost like a vacume leak on the same side of the car at exactly 2100 RPM in any gear. checked everything out and even pulled the throttle body and cleaned. Ive also cleaned the MAF. Any ideas? My wife says it sound like her old '86 Fiero she used to have.....Ive put the car in the garage and have not talked to her since....
  9. I have an 01 Boxster and when I turn the ignition key on all the gauge lights come on except the check engine light. I removed the cluster and found that it was not as simple as a burnt out bulb, as there are tiny LEDs soldered onto the circiut board. Do these things burn out? Can they be replaced?
  10. Removed Battery and now I need a Radio Code! 2001 Boxster CDR-220 # 4462 S/N Y5048386 24/99 Thanks
  11. I removed both seats to remove engine cover inside car. After I put seats back in and hooked everything back up the airbag light came on. I have checked the conections under both seats and everything is ok. Can I reset this without any special tools or do I need to access a code reader?
  12. I need to top up my steering fluid and when I asked for some Pentosin CHF 202 at my local import shop, he gave me a bottle of VW / Audi factory fluid and said it was the same. The part number is G 004 000 M2. I have seen on other posts that part number 002 000 is the same as Pentosin but never seen this stuff. Is it Ok to use?
