  1. I know how you feel. I also hate to break something, even minor like that. I actually broke the same fin while changing one of my side marker bulbs. I put the headlight assembly back in place, and it seems stable so I left it. I haven't had a problem. I also have a Crystal Silver Cayenne. I'd love to see a photo with the new red badge. I saw a Cayenne in Munich, Germany last month that had a Porsche crest on the rear hatch instead of a Cayenne badge. I thought it looked awesome. I don't know if this was a modification or if this is how it is done in Germany, but it looked really good. Another option to consider. Ouch! What error message did you receive when the headlight assembly fell out??? I have lost a headlamp on the highway totaly gone destroyed HID and all cost 720 for the lamp assembly and 160 for my HID :(
  2. Please provide us more information! I'd love to get a version number and date from the CDs. I've been trying to get updated CDs for some time. Never mind... I just read the date on the original post... haha... I had some false hope for a minute there!
  3. Steven, There are many, many mods possible to a Cayenne S, it all just depends on your budget and your desire for power. I think one of the most economical power upgrades that is fast and simple is the addition of cat bypass pipes. I've actually been considering adding them to my 2004 CS. I have heard that they give a nice increase in sound, and that they help reduce the minor hesitation that some Cayenne owners experience. HP gains are purported to be around 20 HP for this mod. From there, it only goes up. Good luck.

  5. Did you just break the little guide fin, or is it the whole rail?
  6. I had the same issue with my rubber mats. The round fasteners are two pieces, like the new oval ones. They pop apart with a little force - I used a screwdriver to simply pry it open. Once you pop a couple of them apart you'll get the hang of it. It isn't hard. Dennis, thank you very much. I have had issues before where I pried stuff apart and then broke it, and then found out there was a really simple trick. Rob I know what you mean. If there is a simple trick - I missed it! The screwdriver did the trick. With all the snow and slush we got here today, the rubber mats have been a good investment.

  8. All the side windows in my 2004 CS are "SEKURIT" while my windshield is Guardian. It has not been replaced - it is factory original.
  9. ive had the nav-tv unit, had it replaced a few times before finally tossing it. have the mobridge unit now.....SO much better than the nav tv unit. clear crisper sound, more songs listed per page (i think its around 99 as opposed to 20 or 30 on the navtv unit), and no hang ups so far. navtv unit kept freezing, not being recognized, etc etc etc etc etc etc.... i LOVE the mobridge unit ! Any word on bluetooth for the mobridge unit yet? That would make it even more appealing.
  10. I think you will find that the GM nav cheat in the PCM was to get around the lack of updates for PCM1 fitted cars and then only if the PCM was the 16bit version and not the 8bit. RB That's too bad... I was hoping to find something for mine. Oh well... it isn't that bad as long as I don't need to drive on streets built after 2004...
  11. I am still under warranty. I just thought I'd see if anybody else had that problem. Thanks for the response.
  12. Has anybody had a problem with the carpet coming up in the their Cayenne? In my 2004 it is coming up in a few places. It is refusing to stay down around the base of the driver's seat. It is also coming up on the sides of the transmission hump, where it covers some kind of a little rubber plug. It is sticky on the back, and when I push it down it stays for a little while and then pops back up. I tried velcro strips to hold it down, but I can't get them to stick to the back of the carpet. I was thinking I'd ask my dealer about it. Any suggestions? Thanks,
  13. Nice ride. I think you'll enjoy it. I can't keep my wife out of mine. Every time I leave town on a business trip, it is clean and full of gas in the garage. When I get home, it's dirty and empty. Oh well... I guess we may as well both enjoy it!
  14. I'd also be interested in the software that allows GM nav CDs to be used in Porsche nav units. Just for the heck of it, I checked the PCM version and software version in my 2004 Cayenne following the directions in my owner's manual after reading these posts. My car shows PCM version 3.0 and software version 3.0. I was expecting it to say 2.0. Does this seem right? Thanks in advance for any help. Dennis
  15. Maybe that would work if you had some tiny passengers. I'd still be a little concerned about safety. Also - there are no seatbelts back there.
  16. I haven't tried it, but I've heard mixed reviews. I don't think they really give you the increase in power that they promise, and they do reduce the ability to filter particulate debris from the intake air. I think there's some risk there. Just my 2 cents worth.
  17. As you improve the looks of your wheels, you will no doubt go with bigger wheels. I think most people agree that once the wheels get over 18" in size, the ride quality is sacrificed a little bit. In my opinion, the sacrafice isn't that great. I have the 20" Porsche Sport Techno wheels on my 2004 Cayenne, and they look great. I would choose them again. As far as the style goes, that's up to you. I prefer to go with Porsche wheels, but there are many other good options. You may be able to find somebody on here who has changed the wheels on a Cayenne S or Cayenne Turbo and would be willing to sell you the old ones. Good luck.
  18. Dennis How is the Bel RX? i heard mixed reviews This is my second BEL unit. The RX-65 was an upgrade from my previous unit - I believe it was a BEL 985. I looked carefully at the BEL, the Escort and the Valentine before I made my purchase. All three were roughly the same price, within about $40. I have been extremely pleased with the BEL unit. The sensitivity is excellent, giving me readings much sooner than my older unit did. One thing I like about the BEL unit is that it does allow you to track multiple radar signals in different bands, similar to the Valentine. It doesn't have the arrows, but that wasn't a big deal to me. I think any of the three premium units would provide excellent service. I put the BEL under the rearview mirror so that the rear sensor would have a decent chance of picking something up - maybe I would have been better putting it up on the visor like you did. I guess my thought was that I liked the front-facing sensor to be high and in the middle of the windshield, as most threats come from the front. I've attached a pic of where mine sits for comparison. PS - pay no attention to all the junk in my garage! I'm going to clean it out soon... really...
  19. i mounted mine left of rearview mirror I tried several different spots, and just under the mirror seemed to me to offer the best visibility and the least obstruction for the radar detector. Do you have a pic showing how you mounted yours?
  20. Sounds like another Slick50, graphite, snake oil, whatever, additive. I'd be rather careful pouring anything into my engine that Porsche did not explicitly approve. I assume they know a little bit more about tribology than I do. In the case of slick 50, Dupont considered it an unauthorized use of their product and asked the Slick50 guys to stop advertising it using the Teflon name. IIRC, most of the PTFE ended up stuck in the filter doing little good to the engine. This is not to say that some of these additives don't reduce friction. MoS2 for example decreases friction in grease by 50%, but that does not mean that it's necessarily good to add to your engine. There is more to it then that. Regarding the ceramic oil additive...I find it suspect that it's only good for engines up to 2.5l. Huh? I don't know much about tribology when it comes to automotive engines either, but I know that typically introducing a third body between two moving parts results in greater wear, not reduced wear. I would think this is especially true when you introduce a very hard third body particle or particles, like ceramic. It sounds like a bad idea to me. My Cayenne doesn't even have 30K on the odometer yet, but I have experience with other engines using Mobile 1. I have owned several cars in the past that went over 200K with no additives at all, just regular changes with Mobil 1. I'd stick with the Porsche recommended oil and change it frequently. There's nothing wrong with changing it before 20K miles if you're concerned about engine wear. That's my 2 cents worth!
  21. I'm looking forward to seeing pics. The tail light modifications sound interesting. The xenon modifications to the fog and cornering lights seem a bit over the top - quite expensive considering the way these lights are used. Also, I think it's nice to have a standard bulb in the fog lamps - I don't think it scatters as much when it is actually foggy. Let us know how it goes. Dennis
  22. Do you have to actually remove the tail light assembly to change the bulb? I would think a bulb change would be a relatively simple thing...
  23. I haven't tried them, but they certaily look interesting. I assume they would replace the brake lights, while the rear running lights would remain unchanged. Post pics if you decide to install them!
